COD3_boxartA month ago, we showed you an Island gameplay video from the third installment in the Call of Duty series. Here's another one, running 1:04 minutes. Featuring all the action that you can expect in Call of Duty 3, the latest gameplay vid will show players how Treyarch was able to incorporate the realistic rendition of events that happened during Battle of Normandy in Saint-Lo Normandy, France - the harrowing offensive that liberated Paris and changed the fate of the world. Even the sounds of the explosions almost sound too real. If you want to immerse yourself in the events during World War 2, then Call of Duty 3 is definitely a must-have.

Call of Duty 3 will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii later this year so better keep your eyes peeled. For the meantime, watch the breathtaking video available for download below.

Medal of Honor: Airborne

The long running Medal of Honor series would be rejuvenated come 2007 as the newest installment in the franchise is set to be unleashed. Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor: Airborne for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 promises to bring the same gritty gaming experience that its predecessors successfully brought to the table. With a World War 2 storyline, the game is definitely bound to be one gripping title.

The game is still far from hitting store shelves as its release date was pushed from Christmas 2006 to first quarter of 2007. So to appease those who are eagerly waiting for its arrival, EA recently released a desktop image pack featuring shots and original artwork from the E3 Medal of Honor Airborne Trailer, for your own viewing pleasure. Here's hoping that this would somehow compensate for the still far-away release date.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Insomniac Games' Resistance: Fall of Man, is the kind of game that toyed around with the "what-if" concept of World War 2 not taking place. Set in 1951 Great Britain, the atrocious World War 2 was non-existent, but for some reason, the world was being overrun by a species of dubious origin named the Chimera, who have annihilated most of the world's population and were former humans themselves. The plot revolves around the last ditch effort of the US and Britain to fight the Chimera across a war-ravaged British landscape.

Now, you will be in the shoes of U.S. Army Ranger, Sgt. Nathan Hale, a man who was given the heavy task of leading whats left of humanity and defend the world from the Chimera. As we always say when we report about this game, this will be one of the PlayStation3 launch titles, so expect its release on November of this year. For now, here are more of the game's screens for your own viewing pleasure.

There are two new Call of Duty 3 high resolution PS3 shots and four new Xbox 360 shots total. While the new screens really only provide a glimpse at what must be a truly massive 3D world full of carnage, at this point that's about all we're going to get and we'll be happy with it! We have been watching this game progress with great expectations and we're hungry for news about the game.

Both sets of screens look impressive (basically indistinguishable from the best PC offerings), but we're not quite sure if the word next-gen would be the applicable label here. From our perspective, neither side is grossly deficient anywhere and these pictures are truly a testament to the power of both consoles. However, we're left wanting a bit more from both consoles somehow. Little details like the flat and dead looking grass in one of the PS3 shots detracted from the impressive details like the dirt that can be clearly seen on the soldier's uniform.

Size considerations make it impossible to put the shots up at full resolution so here are the resized screenshots:

Call of Duty 3

Some nifty footage from Activision's next entry in its World War 2 first person shooter franchise, Call of Duty 3, has come to light. What we've got here is a soldier moving carefully through a war torn environment even as shells explode and buildings crumble all around him. There's also a cool segment that gives you an idea of how hand to hand combat will work in-game. Though this footage comes from the Xbox 360 version, what we've heard is that the PS3 version will sport a few extra light sources among other minor visual flourishes (cue flame wars). Before you start though, I should add that it is expected that both iterations will be nearly indistiguishable from one another.
