An interview was held with Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division, just before Xbox Live's fifth anniversary. In the interview he says that "we don't have competition" on talking about the PlayStation
Network, explaining that Sony has "done some things online, but nothing
that can be called a service."Bach also talks about current and future plans for Xbox Live, including parental control features and hints at more media content. More in the full article. |

CNET has just released the poll results for their top 20 most wanted products for the week ending October 28. And from the looks of it, Microsoft's getting a pick-me-up as their upcoming Zune 2 media player pulls ahead of the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 to first place. From an ugly duckling to a swan, indeed. Getting into specifics, the Zune 2.0 player (available only in black) will carry a new iPod-style Zune pad, a 3.2-inch screen, and a set of downloadable features that are expected to be available come this fall. And while Sony has already made plans to phase out their 60 GB PlayStation 3 by the end of this year, the polls indicate that it's still on shoppers' wish lists at third place. Other notables we spied in the list were the Apple iPhone, which got fifth place, and the recently released black PSP Slim, which was at eleventh place. |

T-minus two days to next year, guys. And while you're wondering what's '07 got in store for us, let's take a look at some of the better things we've seen.IGN's hosting an awarding ceremony over at their site, and it'll be covering the best of what's happened in 2006. And while it's a long list, taking a look at what's been good per console, we'll be focusing on their "Best Gear of 2006" collection. Under this category, IGN reports that the best new console of 2006 was *drumrolls* the PS3, the Wii taking second place. IGN chalks up points for the PS3's sheer processing power, its packaging as a computer rather than as a gaming platform, and the availability of Linux supported distributions. Sure the console's still got a long way to go given its slow start, but given the package's initial strengths, it'll be interesting to see what will develop in the near future. As for the other "Best gear of 2006":

The Yahoo Buzz Log tallies and records what people who visited their site are searching for. And since Yahoo! is regarded as the top online site based from web ranking tools, we could assure you that we're talking a lot of traffic here. A couple of days ago, the Nintendo Wii ranked number 2 in their Top Tech Mover division, with Microsoft's Zune taking the first spot.Sony's PlayStation 3 came in at #3, #4 and #7, depending on how people spells their searches. Now, the Wii may be in second place, but the PS3 was in the list thrice! That's still something to brag about. Xbox 360 came in number 10 and on top of it is the original Xbox. The top ten list is as follows:
