Sony PlayStation 3 - Image 1Many would still love backwards compatibility for their Sony PlayStation 3 consoles (even if only previous models were fortunate to have it). This is why a "misleading" PlayStation 3 television ad from PC World implying that it can play all PS2 games have been pulled out. More details after the jump.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men - Image 1After the Gerstmann controversy has subsided, we thought news about Kane and Lynch will just be confined to DLCs. However, Eidos' Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) may not be done yet - its ad campaign has just been banned for its graphic violence. More details after the jump.

This is Living PS3 tagline - Image 1

A watchdog group has slammed a PlayStation 3 ad for its "underlying tone of violence" after investigating complaints about several PS3 ads. According to the Channel 4 news report, the ad in question featured a character called Kovac brandishing a knife alongside a caption that said "This is living."

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said that the online ad breached rules relating to responsibility and violence. The tone of violence in the ad could reportedly be "seen to condone or glamorize violence". Sony has been asked by the ASA to change the content of future ads to avoid a repeat of this issue.

The online ad was shown on Yahoo! and BT. Yahoo! has said that the ad was meant for registered users over 18 years old and who had given their birth dates during the account registration process. Yahoo! had also asked Sony to tone down the ad since it showed weapons.

Complaints about other PS3 ads have been rejected by the ASA.
