Recently we've had an extra helping of Batman in his animated (Western and anime) and live-action incarnations. Now, a group of Saiyans - yes, those powerful aliens with unbelievable hairstyles - are taking the spotlight this week, as well as a good dose of horror, drama, and family-friendly comedy. This week's batch of new Blu-ray movies may be quite limited in quantity compared to the previous weeks, but don't let that deter you from checking out the selection. A new batch of screenshots have arrived for Electronic Arts' new survival-horror shooter, Dead Space. Before, the trailer only gave us brief glances of the aliens that have taken over the space mining ship, the USG Ishimura. The first batch of screenshots only gave us two clear shots of the aliens that massacred the crew. Now this new batch gives us an up close and personal look at what awaits Isaac Clarke in the darkness of space.

Propaganda Games is almost ready to ship its Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 rendition of the classic Nintendo 64 shooter Turok. Before that, though, they'll give everyone who pre-ordered Turok a special treat. A demo disc with 30 minutes worth of gameplay and a cool shirt are both in store for everyone who can spare US$ 5.00.

Activision's fiscal 2008 Q2 report is in, and the results are very encouraging. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC) is bringing the house down as it earns over US$ 100 million in its first week to seal its reputation as one of gaming's most successful launches ever. We've all seen the E3 trailer of the highly anticipated shooter Killzone 2 by Guerrilla games and it was nothing short of spectacular. Now, IGN reveals some new story details which are linked to the gameplay and a few comments from Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide chief Phil Harrison.

Set hot off the heels of the first game's conclusion, Killzone 2 has you playing as Sev who takes part in an ISA assault mission on the Helghast homeworld. Thinking the mission would be an easy one, the ISA is caught off guard by what they found.

The locals are not only giving the invaders a run for their money, but they whipped out a nasty surprise: the Helghans can now manipulate their environments and use it to their advantage. This puts the ISA in the sticky position of fending off the enemy and fighting nature itself.

So what do you do when even the planet is against you? There's no other way the ISA knows better than to strike back with extreme prejudice. The environments are fully destructible so that you can take your pent-up rage on the planet and blast away the tree-loving aliens.

"Guerrilla have worked hard to focus the power of PlayStation 3 to realize their true vision for the game," says Harrison as he says that the hype around the title is well-deserved after what the developers have shown since 2005.

"With incredible action, drama-fueled gameplay sequences, and a vast array of weapons and vehicles, Killzone 2 defines a new benchmark of our industry," he concludes.

  

You all knew that sooner or later, you'll be seeing proof of the existence of other life forms in the universe, but we bet you didn't realize you'll be seeing them as giant aliens swarming around your little town. In this Area 51 sequel titled BlackSite: Area 51 (PS3, PC, Xbox 360), you take on the role of a decorated military soldier leading an elite squad ordered to fight off the alien enemies. The game uses Rachel, Nevada - the infamous Area 51 - as the backdrop of the game.

Now, as you get nearer the release of Midway Games' FPS video game, you also get to see more of what you'll be facing, and how you'll be fighting them with the gameplay and developer interview, as well as with the screenshots that we have here. Take a look at how huge those alien enemies are going to be. And be sure to start thinking up of what you're going to do once you face them come the Q3 2007 release of the games.
