SBK-08: Superbike World Championship - Image 1

Black Bean Games just announced via press wire that SBK-08: Superbike World Championship will be racing across various platforms come next year. While SBK-07 for the PSP, PS2, PC, and 360 had some of its moments - with World Superbike Champion James Toseland recently admitting that he actually used the game as a simulation to practice his biking skills - the upcoming SBK-08 is still showing promise.

SBK-08: Superbike World Championship has been announced to come out for the PS3, PSP, PS2, Xbox 360, and PC next May. Details are scant for now, but Black Bean and Milestone promise to utilize the engine of the PS3 and 360 to enrich your gameplay experience - make it more compelling and real.

Check back for more updates, but for now, screenshots!

While the PSP and PS2 versions of SBK: Superbike World Championship are still on schedule for their end of April release, Eurogamer reports that the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game will only be available come October.

Black Bean Games spokesperson Livio Cantagallo told Eurogamer, however, that the demo will be ready "near the end of the summer." At least fans will get something to pass the time with while they're waiting for the official releases.

There has also been no confirmation yet regarding the rumored PS3 version. According to Cantagallo, "We are going to think about a PS3 version, because we are just moving onto the next-generation consoles, starting with the Xbox 360 as it's similar to the PC."

Hmm... these are the questions that haunt me. - Image 1We had been wondering why Black Bean Games' bike racer SBK-07: Superbike World Championship is coming to Xbox 360s and PCs, as well as the PSP and PS2, but not the PS3 or Wii. Strategy Informer had been curious as well, and one of their members had asked Black Bean the one question: Why?

Black Bean gave an answer, and it shows that they're looking towards a PS3 and Wii bike racer, too. "To approach the next-generation consoles we chose the X360, as its features are similar to the PC."

This explains why, when we first heard of SBK, it was for the PSP (and PS2), but then it quickly gained the 360 and PC as additional platforms. Now that the multiplatform fact is established, though, Black Bean is "going to be evaluating the possibility of developing a PlayStation 3 and Wii version of the game within the next few weeks."

The three different next-gen consoles do have three different approaches for the same game - but now Black Bean will be looking into it (going multiplatform on next-gen as well), so they might be coming out with a new press release in the near future.
