PS3 Slim - Image 1Those leaked images that everyone thought were fake have finally been vindicated with Sony's announcement of the PS3 Slim at GamesCom just about an hour ago. PS3 FW 2.50 - Image 1Still busy ooh-ing and aah-ing over the many new features in FW 2.50? Well now, here's a little bit of clarification on the in-game screenshot function: a Sony representative explains that, though the feature is already activated once you upgrade you system to FW 2.50, you actually won't be able to try it out just yet because none of the games out there actually support it yet.

PS3 - PSP - Image 1New information about the upcoming firmwares for the PS3 and PSP have surfaced. Well, when Eric Lempel revealed the list of features for PS3 FW 2.50 and PSP FW 5.00 yesterday, he did say it wasn't the entire changelog.

UPDATE: PS3 Firmware 2.50 is now available for downloading, folks. The changelog is shown once you start the download. Nice.

Firmware update - Image 1As we make our way into the core of TGS - as well as all the insanity that goes with it - some sources are reporting that we'll be getting quite a big bunch of system updates from Sony next week: PSP FW 5.0 and PS3 FW 2.5. Which is plausible, to a degree. After all, huge changes are coming (PSP Store, PlayStation Home, PS3 bluetooth headset... etc. etc. etc.), and if all these changes are already around the corner, you're bound to hit new firmware updates eventually.
