According to a power consumption test conducted by the guys at CNET, Sony's new slimmed down console generally uses less than half the power of the original 60GB PS3, no matter what task it performs. Now that's impressive! More after the jump.

A couple of months ago, we had a report from CNET saying that Sony had been talking to some recording industry types about providing downloadable music for the PSP through the PlayStation Network. Now that rumors of PS Cloud being a social networking tool has been debunked, the latest from the mill alleges that it's actually for this music service.

CNET is reporting that according to their music industry sources, Sony has been having preliminary talks with some major recording companies about the possibility of providing downloadable music for the PSP through the PlayStation Network.

We are not immune. This statement can not go any clearer than this. CBS, mother company of media company CNET, has brought down the ax on several of its subsidiary companies, merging newsrooms, including TV.com, MP3.com and gaming website Gamespot.

These days, the recommendations of important companies and groups can carry a lot of weight in the technology industry. It should stand as good news, then, that the reference Blu-ray player of the Criterion Collection happens to be the PS3.

It seems the murder of a taxi cab driver in Thailand has taken an even stranger turn, besides the whole "It's linked to Grand Theft Auto" business. It seems the Thai government has released a list of games that have been deemed as violent games to avoid.
