Celebrating the first anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Konami announced the details for the 2009 Metal Gear Online Tournament. There's gonna be a limited number of players that they'll let into the tourney, so read up and find out how you can join.

Konami has announced a bunch of new Metal Gear Online stuff: a new map, a character, and a reward mode all available through an update for players who have purchased the SCENE expansion pack. Details after the jump.

Sony execs had a lot to say this week, with their statements running the gamut of emotions from frustration to confidence. The price cut rumor was again resurrected, but that's understandable since we didn't hear a peep at all from Sony about it during E3. We didn't see a lot of big game-related news this week, but there's still meaty stuff nonetheless with updates for Gran Turismo 5 (not a release date, though), The Last Guardian, Uncharted 2 and LittleBigPlanet, just to name a few. This summer, WipEout HD fans will be getting a new expansion pack called Fury. The pack will add 8 new tracks, 13 new ship models, 3 new game modes, and more. To whip up some good ol' fan frenzy, Sony's Liverpool Studio has released some gorgeous new screenshots from the Fury pack. Check 'em out in the full article.

Just a quick reminder to all Metal Gear Online players. Pre-orders for the SCENE expansion pack is already available, and will last until the release date. It's worth it, if only for the "cardboard man" head gear you'll get with the pre-order.

Since we're getting closer to the release of Metal Gear Online's SCENE Expansion Pack, Konami has released a new trailer you can watch after the link. A nice upgrade from the screenshots they released last week.

Capcom has laid out its timetable for the North American release of the alternative costume packs that'll act as the first batch of DLC for Street Fighter IV (PS3, 360). Each pack will be US$ 4, except for the discounted combo pack - which, incidentally, hasn't been dated yet - that contains all of the costumes. The schedule's in the full article.

Big things are coming out today with Europe's PlayStation Network update. For one, the long-awaited LBP costumes for Kratos Sackboy is here - and the GoW level kit too. Mirror's Edge's PS3-exclusive DLC is also available as well. Two PSP games are also going live, one of them being Fight Night Round 3! An FF13 trailer is also available for download - I'm sure you guys would want to watch it on your TV rather than on a compressed video embed, right?

Time for another round of new goodies on the US PlayStation Store. For this week's batch, we've got the usual shower of Guitar Hero and Rock Band tracks, a new edition of PULSE, new demos and new downloadable games. Check out the complete list in the full article.

After hearing the story of the Swede teen collapsing after 24 hours of playing Wrath of the Lich King, this news comes to no surprise for me. World of Warcraft's second expansion pack has sliced its way to second place in the UK charts, topped only by fellow newcomer, Call of Duty: World at War. In other news, LittleBigPlanet shot down form fourth place to 19th place. Ouch.
