Flint Dille to work on new Sin City game - Image 1Red Mile Entertainment is announcing that they've gotten Flint Dille to lead the design, scriptwriting, story generation, and overall production of their upcoming title, Sin City: The Game.

The readers may remember Dille for his previous video game works, which include The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay by Vivendi Games for the PC and Xbox, and Nuclear Strike and Soviet Strike by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation.

On the non-gaming side of his works, Dille's also been accredited for writing, editing, and/or producing for 80s cartoons like G.I. Joe, and The Transformers (He also did a commentary for the recently released film). Interestingly, Dille's also an old buddy of Sin City comic creator Frank Miller - they reportedly met back when Miller was working on the Batman: The Dark Knight Return comic, and Dille was working on the Transformers cartoon.

Regarding the upcoming Sin City game, here's what Dille had to say:

Frank and I have been having a party coming up with nasty stuff for the game. In true Sin City fashion, some old characters will return, new characters will appear and - without giving anything away - probably die horribly. It's great to be working with the Red Mile team on this project: They clearly share Frank's and my commitment to bringing a new and true Sin City to interactive life.

Another group that Red Mile's reportedly bringing into their project is Union Entertainment. The company was responsible for the Sin City concept document that first got Miller interested in creating the comic's game adaptation.

300, available on Blu-ray this week - Image 1This, indeed, is madness. Of course, madness here would connote something positive - e.g. wicked, sweet, winrar, [insert your own outcry of joy here]. Finally we get some seriously mind blowing eye-candy in the glory of high-definition.

Yes, we've heard some of your comments; quite a lot of you (myself included) have been waiting for this to come out. So, without further ado, from Warner Bros. Pictures, the film adaptation of Frank Miller's "300" will finally be available on Blu-ray this week!

Here's the full list of movies to be released, all on July 31, 2007:
And hey, if the idea of seeing the trademarked 6-, no, 18-pack abs of Spartans in high-def doesn't sit well with you, those two IMAX documentaries look rather appealing as well. Some of us are space junkies too, y'know. Blue Planet and Roving Mars capture Earth and Mars (respectively) like you've never seen it before - sans Discov/NatGeo voice overs from Patrick Stewart.

Shooter is also coming out. If this movie has anything that's got to do with the upcoming (rumored) G.I. Joe film in 2010, Mark Walhberg looks like he's preparing for his (rumored) role as Duke.

A very good lineup of Blu-ray movies this week. If it's say to assume, I'm expecting a considerable spike in Blu-ray sales this week. Let's see how hot-selling those Spartan 18-pack abs really are...

300 - Image 1Cinema Blend's gaming section CB Games reports about a rumor that Frank Miller's 300 will soon be made for Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Not much word yet on what genre the game will be or which studio will be developing it. What gives this rumor some sense of credence is that even EGM's resident rumor monger, Qurtermann, is seeing it fit to spread the word on this rumor.

CB Games' Rich Knight hopes for a strategy title, We at QJ however hope that it builds on what the PSP version has done so far. We're not asking for a concept by concept remake though, but a decent next-gen action title would be nice. It would also be pretty amazing if the next-gen game managed to adopt the graphical stylings of the Frank Miller graphic novel, but that's just us getting a bit ahead of ourselves.

We'll update you as soon there's any official word that confirms or denies this rumor. Keep reading.

Sin City - Image 1Writer Frank Miller's work with the Sin City graphic manuscripts has paid off outside the literary realm as Red Mile Entertainment Inc. has announced that it's turning the gripping stories into an art form much more interactive this time around.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed, both parties expressed delight in the pact. For their part, Red Mile says that Miller's writings have a great sense of action, drama and character depth that would fit a video game nicely.

Red Mile CEO Chester Aldridge says "Sin City enjoys a broad and devoted following. Its crime noir settings, richly detailed characters, hyper-real action sequences, and engaging stories provide an outstanding groundwork for video games."

Sin City game details have so far been kept tight under wraps. The platform where the game will roost has also remained undeclared. We'll keep you posted on more developments on this project.

For those of you who aren't familiar, Crashlander is a comic by James Hutchinson that regularly sees print in Edge magazine. HaHaUK alerts us that in this month's issue of Edge magazine, Crashlander takes time to tackle the impending European launch of the PlayStation 3 in typical Crashlander fashion. This is what happens when Sony and Frank Miller meet:

We here at QJ like the fact that this comic can be seen as being both anti Sony and pro Sony at the same time. Ah, when humor serves as a fanboy litmus test.

The Sony PS3 will cost UK£ 425, and will be launched on the 23rd of March. Shop in hell folks. Shop in hell.

300: March to Glory - Image 1

When the writer/director of the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film, 300, Zack Snyder was asked by Yahoo Video Games, about his intentions of churning out a game based on his adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel, he had this to say:

At first I wanted to do a larger platform game, but it takes a while for the Hollywood machine to pull a trigger on something like that. ...We wanted to do Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but everyone has in mind what they want to do with marketing and everything. By the time they get around to pulling the trigger and they want a day and date with the movie, we ended up with the PSP. I'm completely happy with the game we made. I think it's cool.

So there you have it folks, the reason for why 300: March to Glory ended up on the PSP.

What's nice about the PSP game, is that Snyder was very involved with the development of the game. It seems that Snyder actually played through the game, and worked closely with Collision Studios to ensure that the game retains the organic low-tech feel that the movie has.

A specific example of Snyder's influence on the game would be the waving capes on the characters in the game. Despite the fact that Collision could've used the memory (used for the waving capes) on other things, they tried their best to ensure that Snyder's vision for 300 is still there.

Alan Moore's Watchmen - Image 1

Before we go, if you're curious about what other graphic novel Snyder chosen to bring to the world of the cinema and video games. Here's a little teaser:

The next movie I'm working on is Watchmen. ...Because of my experience with 300, we've been talking about doing a big game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that's consistent with the movie's satire. It can't be just a straight-forward game. It has to be more sophisticated, like the movie is. That's the kind of challenge we face when you make a game from a movie.
