Lair - Image 1

Can't get enough of Factor 5's Lair? Can't say we blame you, as we're also waiting for it to hit the shelves in May.

Just like the Dragon Riders in Eragon, players would be able to ride a dragon and fight with it via the SIXAXIS controller. According to Wikipedia, the hero of Lair is a knight named Rohn. Together with a secret society called The Burners, he fights in the war with the Mokai against the Asylians. Throw in all that with global warming via increased volcanic activity and this game is bound to be hot hot hot.

We don't know how much you guys trust the Wiki, but that info would have to do for now. In the meantime, you can check out these new screenshots just oozing in mouthwatering high-res.

playtenIn an interview with PS3Land.com, Play Ten Studios revealed some fresh info about the upcoming first person shooter for the PS3 called The Wall. The game features an immersive storyline with non-linear gameplay, allowing players to determine events based on their actions. Intriguing features include underwater levels and the ability to drive vehicles. Combine that with loads of customizable weapons and the game looks very promising.

The concept for The Wall stems from a grotesque reflection of the real world. It touches on the avarice and ambition of multinational corporations who are out to pursue their business goals no matter the cost. It also attempts to show religious fanaticism filled with bigotry and superstition.

Project lead Alexander Borodetsky explains, "The main idea behind the game, and the main source of contradictions, will be the problem of miscommunication between people, and between entire societies. As you probably guessed it already, one of the strong background trends is that someone can cause lots of suffering and do all sorts of vile things, but still consider himself to be a great deliverer from evils and savior of people."

thewallThough the game is still in its pre-production stage, it has been in development for almost a year now. It's taking some time to get it moving because the development team feels that everything about the game should be "next-gen".

The story of The Wall begins after the Earth is flooded as a result of global warming. Huge parts of former continents are submerged underwater. Those who survived built new societies. They are faced with new dangers and hostility. It's a new society where soil and land are considered the new "gold".

When asked if the game will utilize the new sensor system in the PS3 controller, the team admitted that they were totally unprepared to make use of it, but they seem to be up to the challenge. They even acknowledge that the new system "heralds a totally new era of gaming".

Play Ten also shared some of the technical features of the game: 64-bit rendering; a flexible system of material description based on .FX files; physical model of building and rendering volume dynamic clouds on the basis of physical characteristics; system of the image post-processing; visualization of volume effects; combined model of the shadow building; GP on GPU; etc. Of course, they couldn't get into the specifics, but that'll do.

The Wall will definitely have a multiplayer part, but there are no plans to add downloadable content at this time. The game is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2008.
