Yoshiyuki Tomino - Image 1Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino thinks games are evil. He's said it before, and he's not afraid to say it again. This time, however, he does give credit to what he believes are technological advancements brought forth by video game hardware.

Namco Bandai - Image 1You can really feel the gaming expo heat building up when more and more publishers start handing out their lineups. We've seen quite a lot of games coming to TGS 2009 by now, and adding to that list is Namco Bandai, bringing games from franchises that the merged companies are well-known for.

PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Lots of numbers on the QJ.NET PS3 blog this week. 999. 40,000. 150,832. All of those because of the number 299. And a recently released console iteration called the PS3 Slim. Yes folk, it's still going strong, as the first week sales numbers show. If you're tired of hearing about the Slim, though, click on through nevertheless. There's a lot of interesting stories in this week's PS3 Weekend Warrior. Things like new tech, new games, new ads, and... Nigerian money scams? What?

Gundam Mobile Suit - Image 1A gaming magazine from Hong Kong, GameWave, has on its cover Mobile Suit Gundam vs. Gundam Next, and declaring that it is coming to the PlayStation 3. Is there any veracity to this?

Gundams - Image 1This we expected from Jack Thompson. But from the Gundam creator? This certainly brings a whole lot of disconnect to me. Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of the most famous sci-fi giant robot (complete with his own posse) Gundam, believes that "video games are evil." Why? Because it's killing our planet. Among many other things, I can only suppose. I think he must have heard of the failed suicide/ arson episode in Japan because mommy took out the guy's Gundam collection to trash. Check out the rest of his statements in the full article.

PS3 Slim - Image 1Japan is gaga for Gundam. Understandable, considering the Gundam franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Sony's also doing some celebrating of their own for the new PS3 Slim, so why not combine the two into one?

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Time for that day of the week when you get all the biggest news and tidbits that came out the past weekend in QJ that you might have missed for one reason or another. There's a lot of GamesCom 2009 updates right here, nothing unusual about that given that the event opens next week. We also still have a healthy spate of rumors pertaining to the console price cuts, particularly because the NPD results are out, and it does look like it will take a mighty slash off the current prices to revitalize the scene. Not all would agree, however. Why don't you jump in and see for yourself what went down in your favorite blogs? We've got it all filled up to the brim for you.

WTF?! - Image 1We know that they went a little Gundam-crazy in Japan last month, but this is taking crazy to a whole new level. 29-year-old factory worker Yoshifumi Takabe has been put under arrest for burning his house down, all because his mom trashed his precious Gundam figure collection. Lots of problems with that one: a) he burned the place he goes home to; b) he still lives with his mom; c) he's gonna share a cell with a dude that'll treat him worse than a Gundam toy.

PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1We didn't see any announcements for new PS3 exclusives this week, but we did get more than enough updates for both upcoming and already-released PS3 titles. Sony CEO Howard Stringer and PSN main man Eric Lempel also said their piece on some of the pressing issues dogging the PS3 and the PSN. Heartbreak also reared its disappointing head this week as we finally heard back about the long-rumored Syphon Filter 5 listing at mo-cap studio PCB's site. Long story short, it was just a typo. Awww.

VIRTUAL GUNDAM! IN YOUR HOME! - Image 1You know how giant Gundams have been popping up all over Japan lately? OK, there was just that life-sized one and that float, but here's another one to add to the list: a to-scale Gundam statue that landed smack-dab in the middle of the Japanese PlayStation Home Square.
