Homebrew developer bu-nyan has rolled out another game for the PlayStation 3. This one is called NumberSet, what appears to be a puzzle game. More after the link.

If you enjoy Bu-nyan's BD-J projects for the PS3 homebrew community, then here's another one for you. It's his very own version of Tetris, Block v0.0.3.

Well, mine sweeping games are a dime a dozen in the homebrew community, but as such, it's still very much welcome nonetheless. There's more than enough room for more homebrew games, right? August is a month full of events. And that's with or without a Large Hadron Collider accidentally ending the world. For one, there's Square Enix's DKS3713 event that just recently concluded - lots of news there - and guess what? A chance to win 300 bucks in our very own PSP homebrew contest! QuickPeek 58 is about to roll in with a band of merry Warriors and a mutant-pig!

Welcome to another edition of the PlayStation 3 Weekend Warrior! If you thought that the PS3 week in the aftermath of E3 was a relatively quiet one, this one should more than make up for it. Explosive news just kept on coming, and coming, and coming from firmware, to financial results, games, and even the dawn of PS3 homebrew. Dig in because you'll be away for quite a while.

The PlayStation 3 homebrew community that we once only dreamed of is now a reality as developer Dragula96 launched his first PS3 homebrew game PS3 Homebrew 2 Player Pong 1.0. This one uses FreePlay's BD-J Devkit concept and lets you play off a USB drive. Details after the jump.

NDT has released a new PUP extraction program that can be used to extract and check out the contents of the PUP files Sony uses to update the PS3's firmware. More details in the full article.

Yesterday Ben02 tipped us off to a video his team's posted showing Heavenly Sword running on a PS3 without having to update its system firmware. Throwing caution into the wind - and with a grain of salt, if we might add - some of the commenters have been discussing the reliability of the video, saying that the skipping and jumps between clips in the video posed doubt over it being real.

To clear things up, Ben02 once again tipped us off to an updated video of the hack. This time, there aren't any cuts, and the two strips of tape tacked on the monitor to hide his system info are kept there all throughout. In this video, there's not much, as Quixand put it, "abrakadabra action!!!" that we could see. Check it out for yourself and you be the judge now:

While it's been previously reported that PS3 TIFF exploits have been found in the past, this video proves that the hacking community is still very much alive and just won't stand fazed by the mean black machine that is the PS3. Props for the effort, and once again, thanks to Ben02 for his kind tip off in our inbox!
