GamesCom 2009 - Image 1The wait for GamesCom has dredged up more and more rumors of what's going to be announced at the Cologne event next week. One of the hottest topics of course is the elusive PS3 Slim, with a lot of different sources claiming that it'll be announced at the event. Hong Kong gaming magazine GameWave seems terribly sure about the announcement -- so much in fact that they've even put it on the cover of their next issue.

Albert Wesker figure - Image 1Remember the Chris and Sheva figures from last month? Those were unbelievably detailed. This time, the Hong Kong-based toysmiths of Hot Toys pulled the veil off their third collectible toy from Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360 and  PS3), and he's someone we know all too well, dating back to his infamy in the very first Resident Evil - Albert Wesker.

Midway Games goes gold with John Woo's Stranglehold for the PS3 - Image 1Golden pistols aren't the only thing that's made out of gold in John Woo Presents Stranglehold. Midway Games has announced that the PlayStation 3 version of the game has just gone gold.

This version will finally ship to stores this coming October 29. It should be remembered that the Xbox 360 and PC versions came out just recently.

PS3 fans of John Woo's cinematic masterpieces of bullets and blood will now be able to experience first hand what it's like to be in one of his movies as you take control of the hard boiled Hong Kong cop Inspector Tequila Yuen.

If you've played the demo of the game then you know how close it comes to the actual cinematic feel of an action-packed movie. PlayStation gamers can now experience the same hardcore shooting madness the game offers.

Stranglehold for PS3 - Image 1

I consider myself a die-hard fanboy of John Woo and his trademark gun-toting "ballet of death" movies. There's a kind of poetry in his films that even the most peace-loving pacifist cannot deny. So imagine my excitement when I found out that I would be the one giving out QJ.NET's first impressions on the new video game lovingly directed by John Woo. Throw in Chow Yun-Fat as the main protagonist and you've just got yourself one happy little fanboy jumping up and down while he mows down hordes of gangsters in Midway Game's John Woo Presents Stranglehold.

Right off the bat, after the initial loading screen, you instantly feel like you've just been pulled into a John Woo film as the opening cinematics roll. All the basic elements of his films are there: gangsters, enough blood to fill a small lake, and an excessive amount of dynamic camera angles enough to make anyone's head spin. The character design for Chow Yun-Fat himself makes him instantly recognizable as he reprises his role as the hard-boiled (pun intended) Inspector "Tequila" Yuen.

In the opening scene, one of his fellow police officers in the Hong Kong police force is summarily dispatched by a local Triad gang. Tequila then steps up to the group's challenge to send a lone cop to meet with the gangsters in the Kowloon market area. Of course, what follows is a series of gunfights, excessive fatalities and stand-offs that's enough to fill any action movie buff's testosterone-powered needs. Little does Tequila know however that the Triad already has a little insurance in their pockets against the gung-ho cop...

Check out more impressions on Inspector Tequila's mad gun skills and John Woo's greatness right after the jump!

Stranglehold banner - Image 1

We're bringing in a quick update for Midway Games' Stranglehold title, in case you're wondering how development's going. The company has sent out a press wire announcing that Stranglehold's Xbox 360 version has now gone gold, and should be ready for shipping come the game's release this September 5.

Stranglehold's PC release is further dated for September 18, with the PlayStation 3 version to follow on September 25. Stranglehold's European release is further announced to be on September 14 for the Xbox 360, September 21 for the PC, and October for the PlayStation 3. You may want to re-adjust your calendar prior to our last release date announcement.

Of course, it you don't fancy the wait, there's always the game's demo up for grabs over on Xbox Live. There's also plenty of videos here to bide the time, starring Chow Yun Fat, the mean streets of Hong Kong, and (of course) pigeons.

Did Sierra Gamer's Week '07 get you wet yet? If not, be ready to cream your pants (so to speak) due to their latest installment, Wet (Xbox 360, PS3). Don't let the title give you any ideas, because this game is a solid third-person shooter with a good mix of sword swinging action. Find its first trailer below.

Info on the game is slippery, but we do know that the girl in the bathtub is named Rubi. We see a lot of her crazy moves, which you can find on the first high-budget Asian action film you can think of. Our well endowed babe is a gunslinger who can do fancy kills with a katana.

Wet seems to be set in Mexico, but with a twist of Hong Kong flicks. Prepare to get wet and wild! Here's the video:
