SingStar was one of the games highlighted by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe during the recently-concluded GC 2007 in Germany. Executive Producer Paulina Bozek of SingStar was interviewed by Gamespot about the game and this is what she had to say and show:

As you can see, the karaoke game is all set for the PlayStation 3 and has some very nice features like downloadable tracks, streaming music, and of course, the game's core mechanic that allows players to belt out tunes using a USB microphone and sing to their hearts' desire.

This title is one of the many casual games that Sony is planning to launch to capitalize on the expanded market that Nintendo initiated with its easy-to-use games which anyone can pick up. SingStar launches exclusively for the PS3 in the last quarter of this year.

SingStar for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 from Sony - Image 1Competitive Karaoke-heads can be rest assured that their star performance power (and what's left of your pride, ahem) won't be ending anytime soon. This news coming straight from Sony stated that "at least" six more titles under the SingStar spotlight will be coming out in the UK by next year.

With the PS2 SingStar title and the PlayStation 3's own SingStar version coming out in April and June, respectively, Sony has a huge promise to fill for Sony fans. Lucy Garnett, SingStar's product manager, said, "The launch schedule for SingStar is more jam-packed than ever, with at least six titles pencilled in for release across PS2 and PS3 over the next 12 months."

Sony was also quick to announce that they will also be committed to delivering more titles to the growing PS2 user base, with the next SingStar versions more than just specific releases for certain platforms. Garnet concluded, "Moving forward, our focus will be on developing the SingStar brand as a multi-platform IP rather than concentrating on specific releases."

PSP,PS3 goodies @ New York Comic Con - Image 1Sony is bringing some PlayStation loving to the Big Apple for the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center. If you happen to be in the area, drop by and be sure to bring your PSP for a chance to get some nice freebies.

Each day, the first 50 PSP-carrying people who drop by the PlayStation booth #411 will get a UMD carrying case. If that's not your thing, you can also get to be one of the first people to try MotorStorm online (for massive bragging rights!). In a karaoke mood? Show off your vocal talent at the SingStar stage. You can also download content directly to your PSP at Sony's PSP Spot.

In addition, a daily sweepstakes will be held, where the loot is a PSP and other PlayStation prizes. Best of all, you don't need to buy anything to join the raffle. Just show up. Oh, and you have to be a U.S. resident, too. And make sure to ask your mom if you're in any way related to Jack Tretton. If you are, you're out of the contest.

My Singstar

Ten new screenshots from Sony's karaoke game entitled My Singstar have been released. Basically, this game is going to be very similar to Karaoke Revolution except it will use many of the PlayStation 3's cool new features, such as a downloadable store in which you can purchase new songs and support for the EyeToy camera peripheral as well. These screens show off the easy-to-use interface and even one screen during a song to show what the gameplay will look like.
