Noby Noby Boy mastermind and trippy game developer Keita Takahashi is back with a new video about his game's multiplayer mode features. Note that this came from the mouth keyboard of Takahashi himself, so expect the delivery to be unlike the ones we usually get, which for me is a refreshing good thing. Check it out. |

Recently revealed Katamari Damacy Tribute for the PS3 is looking pretty sweet. The new art direction of going cel-shaded sounds like a keeper - but is non-druggie series creator Keita Takahashi part of this project? Sorry, but the long and short of it is: ...no. |

And Keita Takahashi just keeps on giving. Here are more choice quotes
from my favorite developer of the year (yeah, I know, it's too early to
cast a vote, but unless somebody else beats his crazy, he's the man for
me). Kotaku's compiled some finely chosen quotable quotes from the
developer, and first on top of the list is: "I don't use drugs at all.
I don't drink. Please don't worry about me." |

Keita Takahashi reveals more details on his eccentric brainchild Noby Noby Boy at the GDC. His ever-growing worm continues to devour everything in its path and expanding to lengths that Snake couldn't even pull off on my old cellphone (bad comparison, I know, but you get it right?). Speaking of growing snakes in phones, Noby Noby Boy is gonna be just that - the stretchy thing is expanding over to the iPhone. |

Did you know that the amusing, eccentric Noby Noby Boy
on the PS3 was developed on the Xbox 360? Yep, that's true. This was
what creator Keita Takahashi revealed at the GDC this week. So what is
it doing on the PSN then? Because, he said, he doesn't like seeing
people playing games on the handheld in the subway. |

Keita Takahashi was prepared for lots of criticism when Nobi Nobi Boy was released. He says that because it was such a unique game, this was to be expected. Nevertheless, all that Noby Noby bashing did get to poor Takahashi, who just wants everyone to enjoy this game. And for that, he's working on an update. |

After seeing the video demonstration of his new brainchild, Nobi Nobi Boy in the recent GameCity '07 event, many people couldn't help but think "what's the point?" We may not know the objective of the game just yet - heck, creator Keita Takahashi's boss doesn't know it yet either - but playing with the taffy people sure does look fun. "I think it looks fun," said Takahashi. Understandable or not, we have to admit that Nobi Nobi Boy already has potential, and that's thanks to Takahashi's innate sense of creativity. But how about the rest of the gaming industry? Takahashi berates the game industry in general for not having enough creativity to produce diverse games, saying: Just as people have different personalities, in terms of games you can make your own rules to develop and play. But in reality we rarely see such variety. I wonder why? Not stopping at the apparent lack of creativity in most video games, Takahashi also said his piece about widespread issues such as environmental awareness as well as being kind to other people. Takahashi also delved into other darker issues, such as people affording the luxury of video gaming after 10 to 20 years from now. Certainly not something you'd expect coming from a game developer, but we're talking about the creator of quirky games like Katamari and Nobi Nobi Boy, after all. Be sure to check back for more updates about his latest game! |

If any of you have played Keita Takahashi's innovative Katamari Damacy series from Namco Bandai, then you have to admit that nothing gets as offbeat as a game where you have to roll up things into a giant ball of assorted objects. However, if you think that's as unique as he'll ever get to designing games then you've probably haven't seen the newest brainchild he's planning on the PlayStation 3.
In a recent software demonstration during the GameCity 2007 event for his new game, Nobi Nobi Boy, shows off the limits of how far Takahashi's mind can stretch when it comes to making a new game. The title itself is a play on Japanese words much like Katamari was. Nobi means "to stretch" and pretty much sums up the new these of the upcoming game. The video doesn't show much except the capabilities of the game physics. The new taffy-like people in Nobi Nobi Boy take the place of the Prince and his cousins. Although the exact objective of the game wasn't revealed, Nobi Nobi Boy shows a lot of potential, seeing as how the character you control can be manipulated in such a unique manner with his stretchy body. Takahashi mentioned that the game will make use of a special controller consisting of a tube with two brightly-colored ends to reflect the flexible nature of the characters. This was the first time an actual software demo was previewed since the game was first introduced by Takahashi during the PlayStation Premiere event last September. In any case, Nobi Nobi Boy has the makings of a classic puzzle-action game that hooked so many gamers. No release date has been announced yet, but we'll keep our eyes out for more news on this game. In the meantime, enjoy the video we have on Nobi Nobi Boy. |
