Thumb - Image 1We have several weeks left before we finally get our hands on Konami Digital Entertainment's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and the home stretch of the waiting period is killing us. To keep you preoccupied, we decided to feature some of the key characters of the game on a weekly basis to freshen our memories on their roles in the series. This week, we've got the creator of Metal Gear REX and nerdy sidekick extraordinaire Hal "Otacon" Emmerich.

After telling you about Spider-Man 3 and the EB Games bonus (which could be questionable), we have something to share to you about the PS3 version of the Activision game. Going over at You Tube, we found a video interview of Chris Archer, the executive producer of Treyarch - the game's developer.

He mentions that they are doing a lot of new things on the game - in fact it boasts of a larger Manhattan setting, probably the largest in the game's history. They also believe that they have merged the free-play mode (if you wanna goof around Manhattan) and story mode quite well so as they could cater to all their players wishes.

He also divulges that players would be able to control the black-suited Spider-Man and that the game becomes more appealing thanks to the new combat system that they've worked on from the ground up. Anyhow, here's the vid for you to know everything that the good producer said.

BBFor you PS3 fans out there out there getting ready to once again to brave the elements, traffic jams, and fellows fans alike to get a chance at your very own unit, we've picked up some hot news.

While browsing the net, we came across some seriously juicy info on the addresses of the select Best Buy stores that will be holding a midnight launch for the PS3 come November 17. There's 18 stores in total.

Consider this an early warning, so if you don't live anywhere near these areas, now's a good time to start prepping some gas money for your PS3 hunt/roadtrip.

On a side note, it doesn't look like Best Buy's planning to hold a midnight launch for the Wii, and will instead just open up their stores an hour early (8 a.m.), on November 19.

Hmm, either they're not expecting that big a crowd (read: mob) for the Wii, or the PS3's initial launch numbers will be drawing in even more rabid reactions - maybe both? In any case, here's the list, and given just how bad it got during the pre-order season, expect this to top the previous camp-outs we've seen before. Good luck to all of you.

Park Lane, TX; West LA, CA; Chesterfield, MO; El Cajon; Superstition Springs, AZ; Chapel Hill, OH; Richfield, MN; Galleria, TX; Butterfield RD, I; Wester Hollywood, CA; Ann Arbor, MI; Gwinnet, GA; Hialeah, FL; South Tampa, FL; Mt Laurel, NJ; Manhattan; NoHo, NY; Landmark, MA; and Manhattan Midtown, NY.

MGS4

The fourth most wanted game in Japan, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, has been showering the Leipzig Games Convention with its looming presence. So far, MGS4's gameplay and trailer has not yet been seen in the games convention, but filling in for their absences are these screens.

In case you have no idea what MGS4 is (duh!), it is the latest offering from the Metal Gear Solid series of stealth-based games. Set years after the events of MGS2 (the Manhattan incident), MGS4 lets you see a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has eased, leading to demands on mercenaries to fight proxy battles for business purposes, fueling the need for private military contractors (PMCs) and automated weapons.

The five largest PMCs are revealed to be owned by a single mother company, Outer Heaven, operated by Liquid Snake via the possessed Revolver Ocelot. Outer Heaven has amassed a military equivalent in power to the United States' own, as well as the rest of the world. Solid Snake, now suffering the advanced aging effects of his cloned heritage, is deployed by the UN to infiltrate Outer Heaven's headquarters in the Middle East.

We will let the screens do the talking now.

MGS4You know the plot. It's been years since the Manhattan incident, and mercenaries are called on to fight proxy battles for business purposes. It's been revealed that Outer Heaven manipulates the five largest private military contractors (PMCs), and consecutively acquired epic-scale power equal with the rest of the world. As such, Solid Snake was contacted by the United Nations to infiltrate the Outer Heaven Headquarters and tasked to fight mercenaries equipped with the coolest ammo.

That, and the fact that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will not feature Raiden as a playable character, is some of the info we know about the game. That was until  Biggest_MGS_Fan (from Wii360 forum) bumped into Hideo Kojima and the game's executive producer at the Comic-Con 2006. The encounter led to the executive producer spilling some interesting info about MGS4. He said that the action-packed game might be 1080p and will not fit a DVD9, as Sony is pushing for HD content (based on the "interview", it was more like Sony "forcing" the development team to do it in 1080p). Furthermore, he also hinted that MGS4 will be released in playable format at E3 2007. The game is still in the works, and their biggest team yet is still feeling their way through PS3.

Elsewehere in the informal interview, the producer thinks that Kojima wanted to do another Zone of the Enders (Z.O.E.), but since he's busy with MGS4 right now, Z.O.E. 3 will have to wait.

Spiderman3On May 2007, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst reprise their roles in the third installment of the Spiderman movies. But the friendly neighborhood superhero will not only be swinging to the movie theaters but to the next-gen consoles as well.

Activision brings Spiderman 3 to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Spiderman will again be protecting the City of Manhattan this time against the Sandman and an alien symbiote (Venom?!).

Since the game is is still in production, there's not much details on the gameplay yet. However, that doesn't mean there are no sneak peeks as well. QJ has the latest Spiderman 3 trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Reports say that this time out, the web-slinger will be donned in black both in the movie and the videogame. However, the trailer still show the superhero in his usual red and blue costume. I guess we have to wait a year before we confirm what the web-slinger will be wearing. Meanwhile, click the download link and see Spidey in action.
