Armored Core 4 - Image 1

Ready for more metal-rending action? Armored Core 4 will be blasting to the shelves (and mech geeks are probably thanking the mech gods) later this month. Here's another sneak peek at the next gen mech title.

The trailer is entitled "Critical Acclaim" and, as the name suggests, it features some of the positive PR Armored Core 4 has received. It also showcases some snippets of gameplay, and if you need another reason to grab this vid up, it's also on high def. With the North American release set on March 22 (Europe gets it on April 27), we're all crossing our fingers that the game lives up to expectations.

We'll leave you to enjoy the video. Be sure to mark your calendars, as Sega and From Software's Armored Core 4 explodes to your choice next gen console this spring.

Fly and fight, Armored warriors of the night!

Always with those mysterious words, beckoning the end of an age, From Software and Sega really know how to keep a gamer intrigued, even if it's supposed to be just a mechanized third-person action game. America is in for another ride with one of the first US trailers for Armored Core 4, now intended for both Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Opening once more with the enigmatic "In the myth, God is force" tagline, we're treated to even more of those very action-packed shots of the ACs taking on military installations. It's really impressive when you watch one AC fire forty missiles at a range of tank-style targets and see them all blow up. Whether we'll be doing that in the game is another matter entirely though.

There also seems to be a lot of flying action in this one, as you get to see a portion of gameplay that looks as if your mech is trying to storm the enemy installation amidst anti-aircraft fire. We're definitely hoping that's a part of the gameplay this time. Hovering was nice in the previous games, but all-out flying would be a nice new addition.

The file's a bit big, but it's manageable. It's two minutes of mechs and ominous orchestral chorus sounds, so  you can't say they aren't trying to evoke a mood. Enjoy the video, and pray they don't push the date back further!

There's one thing you can say about the PS3's power: it makes giant robots look tons more menacing, and a whole lot shinier to boot. Of the many different games you can think of that showcase robots shooting robots, the definitive Gran Turismo of the bunch has to be the wonderfully customizable Armored Core series.

From Software has released the latest trailer for the next-generation Armored Core 4, and we're definitely impressed. Besides the sleek moving ACs firing rockets and machine guns, there seems to be a lot more screen for people to use in the actual game during the gameplay segments. That, and everything just feels a lot faster in this next-gen version of the game.

As always, the GT aspect of Armored Core 4 looks to make the micromanager and mech mechanic in every gamer come alive. Of course, the same restrictions on weight and maneuverability apply, so don't expect to see flying tank ACs coming out in this game. Still, for all its worth, this is definitely a worthwhile trailer to watch while waiting for 2007 to roll by. For the lucky Japanese gamers brandishing Sony's console though, Armored Core 4 comes out on December 14.

Someone get us an import hack or something. Enjoy the video!

Alright folks, you've seen the mecha roster, we know how heavy, how tall, and what color (even the material they're going to be made from!) the mech models for Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire are going to be. We know what weapons they'll be bringing, how fast they do a 180-degree turn, how far their radars can sense, and even how much power their thrusters can give. We also know that the this game is a PS3 launch title and that it would all be about the never-ending struggle between the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zion...

But then again... some of us just can't take in so much information, so here's some pretty pictures instead taken from Namco Bandai's game.

Yup, more than 30 screenshots from the game, as well as more than 20 character mecha art which should give most Gundam fans enough eyecandy until they collapse from the sugar rush. Mmm... gotta love that alloy.

Enjoy!

Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (aka, Target In Sight)

Gundam and mech fans are going to have a field day once the next-gen member of the Gundam line of games finally makes its entry into the gaming world via and with the PS3 this November. Two more long weeks to go!

Anyway, this PS3 launch title, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (a.k.a. Mobile Suit Gundam: Target In Sight in Asia), will have the Earth Federation Forces up again the Principality of Zion once again, and it's up to the pilots of either side to bring home the victory to their respective colonies. The story will be set in the first Gundam Era, and the EEF will have various Gundam models on its side, while the Zeon will have Zakus and Gelgoogs ready for deployment.

Charge up those beam sabers and ready the beam rifles since it's going to be another tight space battle for everyone, and as we wait and get ready for war, here's some screenshots to inspect for now.

AC4 will knock some socks off.

It won't have any SIXAXIS special moves, but at least you can fight with a lot of other people. Toshifuma Nabeshima, Armored Core 4's producer, divulged some details regarding the online capabilities that From Software has set up for their upcoming mech game.

According to Nabeshima, Armored Core 4 players will able to play networked battles of up to eight people. Of course, you also get to choose what kind of fight you want to get into, so he's also mentioned that there will be a battle royale mode, as well as a team-based combat mode. It doesn't seem like a lot, but we're expecting the launch to show off more details as to how online play is implemented for this game. Not only that, but it will also probably take some time before a good core group shows up to play, so there's probably not going to be a rush to get to hardcore online play yet, or at least until after they finish the game.

In the meantime, keep watching QJ for more details on Armored Core 4 as the release date for the PlayStation 3 moves closer and closer, and not far behind it is this title which is due to be released in the first quarter of 2007.

Will Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire be one of the titles worthy to get a first taste of your much-awaited yummy PS3's? Well, we're not in any position to answer that for you, but what we can do is give you tidbits on how the game will play out, and hopefully help you guys in making that decision.

Okay, so far we've given you details about the team strategy, missions, some of the game's features, and whole lotta screens. Now it's time to narrow it down a bit and focus on some PS3-hardware-specific info, like the SIXAXIS' tilt control, online play, and downloadable content. According to the guys at Siliconera, Gundam on the PS3 will have everything that you would expect from a mech game, with the exception that the mobile suits will move more like robots (read: less finesse movements and a bit sluggish). But, compared to other mech games, Gundam could be considered as one with less rigid control schemes.

Now, onto the tilt control: nope, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire won't make use of this, nor will it support online play. As for downloadable content, we're not yet sure. But what the Siliconera guys are sure about is that the game won't support 1080p, but it does have 720p and at least it still looks better than if you play it on other consoles. Also, due to the PS3's more spacious RAM, mobile suits will stay exactly where they are till the end of the mission. One noteworthy game feature though is that it has two language tracks; English and Japanese.

If you still weren't able to come up with an answer to the question posed earlier, then perhaps it's best to start reading up before the game hits the shelves on November 17. Now, here are screens to give you a quick-see of the game, perhaps they can help you decide?

armored core

This futuristic next-gen mech game depicts how from chaos arises order. Overpopulation and dwindling resources spell the perfect catastrophic scenario. Because of this, wars become the outlet for the people's unrest and discontent. In the midst of all these, six corporations are born, in an attempt to create a new world order. Under the colonial system of "Pax Economica", people live in socialism and slavery, with each and every individual pledging loyalty to one of the corporations.

The six corporations have been recently revealed in From Software's website. They are: Global Armaments America (GA), Rosenthal, Rayleonard, Bernard and Felix Foundation, Leone Meccania, and Eqbal. The story of the game begins five years after the Pax has been established. Watch the drama unfold as Armored Core 4 hits store shelves this December 14.

Sometimes, just getting the robot is not enough. You want your robot to be custom fit to your needs. In a game that needs your robots to be in top shape, you’ve got to make sure your ‘bots got the goods. And the people at From gives us a look at the fuselage system of Armored Core 4.

The Fuselage System is where you can customize your Armored Core. Starting from the weapons and the power supplies, you try to see what kind of body can fit to the weapon and power that you like. One thing interesting is the tuning aspect of the fuselage system. You can fine tune your weapons in order to fit the requirements of your body.

For example, you can detail as much power as you want in your legs so that you could customize your mech’s speed. The fuselage system allows you to distribute your power accordingly. Gone are days when you just slap your parts together, you’ve got to carefully think about your mech’s balance, performance, and strength as a whole. Well, it might appear a little meddlesome right now, but hopefully From puts two and two together when the game comes out on the PS3.
