cross-platform messaging? - Image 1

Andronix of PlayThree.net, ponders if PlayStation owners should feel green - an Xbox 360 shade of green to be specific - that the Xbox 360 is set to integrate further with Windows via the Xbox LIVE MSN Messenger feature. Andronix notes that Sony might want to look towards Yahoo Messenger, which already has inter-connectivity with MSN Messenger and Xfire.

Anyhow, since July 12, 2006, both Microsoft and Yahoo have allowed limited inter-connectivity between their messaging services. For now it's pure speculation on Andronix's part, but he sees a possible connection between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 via Yahoo. That is, IF Microsoft chooses not to block it and Sony does attempt to use Yahoo, or at least allow Yahoo to work with the PS3.

Xfire by the way, has already been assessed by Sony for use with the PS3. Will they allow Yahoo Messenger too? Hmmm...

Speculation aside, Sony is already working on their own messaging system, that's set to promote their much touted Game 3.0 philosophy.

MSNGet out of here even if for just one moment you thought Microsoft wouldn't say anything regarding console launches from rival companies. Of course they would say something, and what better way to do it than with a Microsoft-owned MSN article. While the article didn't mention specifics, the X360 came out as the victor during the earlier stages of the war.

"Retailers had a great four-day run and pretty much everything is gone. Sony dropped the ball and Nintendo didn't do that much better," the MSN article mentioned. The article then continued, "Retailers and analysts across North America confirm that the hottest selling gaming console this past weekend was the Xbox 360."

It seems that the article was based from the reports that there have been an apparent lack of Wii and PS3 stocks because of very high demands. "
Microsoft was the big winner. They had lots of systems and they had them priced right with game bundles that gamers were interested in," the article concluded.

To be quite frank, claims without details and from-the-same-corporation do not sound and smell quite good. If it turned out to be true, then kudos to Microsoft and its one year old next-gen console. But until Nintendo and Sony come up with official statements or until the Holiday is over (and statistics will start to pour), it is better to keep our opinions to ourselves.
..for now.

acheader

For most of us who have been waiting like sick for Assassin's Creed's release in the second quarter of 2007, half of that agony should have found some cure by now as the Assassin's Creed's official site is now up and running!

Well, what can we say? Apart from the awesome next-gen graphics and sound effects, the site has got cool sections like Gameplay info, Media, Downloads, Community stuff, as well as its own Forums for those who want to start discussions as early as now. The Gameplay info section includes Assassin's Creed's scenarios and key features. The Media part contains screenshots, concept art, videos, and developer's diaries. You can also check out the downloadable goodies, featuring wallpapers, screensavers, icons, signatures, as well as MSN kits, and Web kits.

If you wish to skip the Community section, fly straight to the forums to find out what everyone's been buzzing about: which console are you getting this game on?

Ubisoft plans to release the game on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Buy: [Assassin's Creed]
