If the Wii can contribute to the treatment of Parkinson's disease, the PS3 too can contribute to healthcare. Nope, no motion-control health benefits here, just the power that the PS3 packs, which according to this bit of news, can be used to read x-rays. |

EenVandaag, a Dutch current affairs TV program, recently conducted a survey on their youth's downloading habits. What the survey found was that a whopping 93% of the youngsters download content in a manner that most laws would consider illegal, citing the use of BitTorrent among other popular download programs. |

The Dutch have spoken. They've seen Killzone 2,
and they liked what they saw. So much so that the NVPI (Dutch
Association of Producers and Importers of Image - and sound bearers)
have decided that Netherlands-based Guerrilla Games' PS3 opus deserves a gold award. |

The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) has recently
released an official announcement ticking off the need-to-know facts of
this year's Tokyo Game Show (TGS). The freshly wired press release
claimed that an anticipated 168 exhibitors will strut their stuff on
1,708 booths over eight spacious halls in Makuhari Messe, Mihama-ku,
Chiba City starting September 20, 2007.
From 2007 onwards, the TGS will serve as a essential part in Japan's International Contents Festival (CoFesta). And while it will serve as a bid for major publishers towards the end-of-year season of software releases, it will also bring mobile telephony forward to the tech-savvy masses, courtesy of special sponsor NTT DoCoMo. TGS2007, extending its show to four days for the first time, will also be introducing new exhibitors from around the world, including companies from The Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand, adding to the 51 international participating exhibitors from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. The business leg of the event is also stretched to two full days, a conclusion of which is succeeded with open exhibition to a targeted gathering of 180,000 attendees on September 22-23. The first two days of the Nikkei co-organized event will be open only to attendees with business in mind, touting a TGS Forum 2007 program keynoted by none other than Kazuo Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment's (SCE) president and group CEO. Need to know more? Then head on over to the full article, right after the jump! |

When Electronic Arts said they've upped the ante on Need for Speed ProStreet (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PSP, PS2), they definitely weren't kidding. While they've spun developer interview after developer interview explaining why Need for Speed was being redefined for a more hardcore audience, those interested in what EA Black Box was offering waited quietly for an up-close and personal look, taste and feel.
But wait no longer, because from Dutch (Netherlands) Game1, we've watched an in-game gameplay demonstration of Need for Speed ProStreet on what appears to be an updated version of the circuit race (or URL) and found our eyes momentarily glued to the screens in awe. That much detail (including damage and asphalt grain) with an almost unflinching framerate was dumbfounding - at the least. Without further ado, though, we'll let you check out the three-minute long gameplay video. Downtown Tokyo, here we come a-driftin'! |

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is fast picking up momentum in Europe, and a Sony product manager states that roughly 44,000 PS3 units have already been pre-ordered in the Benelux region. In case you're wondering where Benelux is, it's an economic union of three Western Europe Countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg - that's the unofficial Benelux flag to the right. Sony has promised 50,000 units for the region, which means that almost 90% of Benelux's allocated units are now reserved as pre-orders. A total of one million PS3 units are being prepared for Europe, with Sony recently announcing plans to ship a total of 6 million units by the end of this March. The PS3 is expected to launch on March 23 for an estimated price of £ 425 (€ 620), with the event being spearheaded by an official midnight launch at Virgin Megastores' Oxford Street branch in the UK, with similar activities being prepared by retail stores elsewhere in Europe. There is also the PS3's upcoming PlayStation Home feature to look forward to, which offers the console an avatar-based online community that has been compared to the Nintendo Mii community and Second Life - public beta tests for Home are currently being readied. |

It should be remembered that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe signed a first-party development contract with Playlogic Entertainment early this year. Today as the agreement expires, the developer happily declared that the co-operation is being extended."We believe that SCEE's decision to continue the relationship with us clearly shows that Sony is very satisfied with the work we have done so far for them," shares Playlogic Executive V.P. Rogier Smit. The Netherlands-based company was established back in 2002 and has contributed a lot in game concepts across various genres. It has remained small and intact today, with the number of employees just totalling to 75. Knights of the Temple 2 and Gene Troopers have already been released in Europe. Both games will see reach U.S. shores before the year ends. Other titles under development that will end up in 13 different platforms all in all are as follows:
