Call of Duty 3 has gotten some next-gen props for placing you in the forefront of one of the bloodiest battles in the history of man: the Normandy Breakout en route to the liberation of Paris. This videos show the Bravo Pack maps flaunting the Rimling and Marseilles backdrops. The action is as explosive as ever, and we won't have it any other way.

The first video below shows some pretty gnarly fighting for coveted flags in urban-warfare fashion. In this mode, teams devise clever tactics (or rush headlong to their doom) to get to the flags and defend them from enemy access. Corresponding points are gained for successful runs until the game declares a winner or a beat-down platoon just loses hope and decides to turn off their consoles and get some fresh air outside.

The next video, "Marseilles Gameplay", shows a lot of the same mindless bloodshed for the freedom of the French people. Okay, so you're not going to do it for them, but hey, picking up a flag and running like hell hoping you don't bump into enemies is a heck of a rush. All you FPS fans out there better try this because it's one straight-up adrenaline rush.

Another video set in Marseilles is waiting for you after the jump!

cod3Although a date has yet to be announced for Call of Duty 3, there seems to be no reason why information should be kept from trickling in. We have here the new fact sheet for this action-packed narrative gameplay on the Normandy breakout, which paved the way for the liberation of Paris in World War II.

The game promises to deliver a "living battlefield for an unprecedented variety of combat, with advanced high-definition graphics, detailed character animations and explosive on-screen action" to give you the most intensifying war experience you could ever have.

Coming out on both the PS3 and Wii, the key features for the game are as follows:

Battle Actions: With the all-new close-quarters battle mechanic, the players get to fight hand-to-hand, as well as improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a whole lot of ass-whopping skills a la McGyver.

Branching Mission Paths: Maximizing the technologies offered by the next-gen consoles, the game will provide multiple attack routes, which enable players to confront the enemy the best way he knows how. The way you attack will entirely be left to your disgression, thereby ensuring that much-needed challenge for your tactical skills. Here, you will be exposed to unique mission paths, which may require you to engagte in various special tactics, such as sniping, demolition, and all-out head-on clashes.

Nowhere to Hide: It is important for one to keep his cover, especially when enemies are scurrying about, ready to take you down. This is what adds excitement to this game, because the geographic layout allows players to search and destroy the enemy's hideouts, thereby forcing them to spill out in the open like busted bugs. However, inasmuch as you can blow your enemy's cover, so can they do the same to you. But heck, it's better you get them first than them getting you.

Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles: Up to 24 players can get to put their battle gears on online, thanks to the combined arms and team-based combat present. Here, you can also pick for yourself if you want to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles, such as tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with sidecars, to name only a few. And then you can get into thoe mobile combat roles for that ultimate multiple player mayhem.

Call of Duty 3 also comes with soldier classes, whereby each class has specific abilities, as well as a ranking system for that utterly diversified squad combat.

So get ready to get to war, cause to the victor goes the spoils.

Call of Duty 3

If you were to ask us how to best describe Call of Duty 3, we'd have to borrow a line from Tupac Shakur, "Wars come and go, but my soldiers stay eternal." True enough, the historical accuracy and detail shown in every pixel of Activision's first person shooting game is enough to send us back to the Normandy Breakout.

In Call of Duty 3's multiplayer game, teamwork is most required. Just imagine two teams of 12 against each other using Sony's online PlayStation Network. If you're not a solid battalion then good luck claiming victory, much less getting out alive. Team Battle and Team Capture the Flag modes can serve as your teamwork bootcamp.

Another mode you'd probably want to get your hands on is Headquarters. In this mode teams have to make a capture and then hold neutral bases. However, if the war had your brain fried already and you have an urge every five minutes to waste away somebody, Deathmatch mode is more for you.

Winning a war doesn't require everybody to take up arms. Managing your Character classes well could very well spell victory. You can take every sniper you wanna have, but without a medic to render first aid you'd soon have a pile of sniper carcasses.

Call of Duty 3We came to know the first one as "The Finest Hour." Then they gave us the "Big Red One." Now, with the release of the third installment of Call of Duty just around the corner, it's about time this WWII epic game from Activision receive a proper name.

We found this development at GameKult, a French online publication. And we can't help but think how appropriate and coincidental everything is. Call of Duty 3 bring us back amidst the fury of combat during the Normandy invasion. This historic campaign went down in history as the very mission that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin.

With this in mind, Activision very well thought to name the new title En Marche Vers Paris (March to Paris). Also, GameKult added that March to Paris will be shipping together with the first two titles. As of the moment, this California-based publisher has yet to comment about the matter.

Call of Duty 3 is a multi-platform title that will see earliest release for Wii on October 1. The PS3 and X360 versions ship a little later on November 17.

COD3_boxartCall of Duty 3 (PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360) is a game inspired by the Normandy Breakout after the D-Day landings. The war was fought in 1944 as part of the larger conflict of World War II and was between Western Europe's Nazi Germany and the invading Allied forces. World War II had manifold important effects, many lasting to this day and many of which may forever keep its darkest secrets. The immediate global cost in lives stood at approximately 55-62 million soldiers and civilians.

Treyarch Studios delivers players the almost exact environment settings, harsh conditions, the trauma of the killings in almost a surreal manner with Call of Duty 3. And with the new video, one will see ruins of the city images that immerses players in the war-inspired accounts of the game.

There is no clear game plot yet but basing from the released gameplay videos, the goal is to fight your way to the enemies as this game consists of American, British, Canadian, and Polish soldiers fighting their way against the German lines. Infiltrate a city ravaged by war and destruction as you fight your way to the enemies.

COD3_boxartA month ago, we showed you an Island gameplay video from the third installment in the Call of Duty series. Here's another one, running 1:04 minutes. Featuring all the action that you can expect in Call of Duty 3, the latest gameplay vid will show players how Treyarch was able to incorporate the realistic rendition of events that happened during Battle of Normandy in Saint-Lo Normandy, France - the harrowing offensive that liberated Paris and changed the fate of the world. Even the sounds of the explosions almost sound too real. If you want to immerse yourself in the events during World War 2, then Call of Duty 3 is definitely a must-have.

CoD3

Call of Duty 3
embodies the saying (or some might say the cliche) that history repeats itself. We know we're stating the obvious when we say that the success being enjoyed by Call of Duty 3 is like that of Call of Duty 2, which was the highest selling Xbox 360 launch title, selling 250,000 units in its first week of availability, happening all over again. But more than that is the actual piece of significant WW II history embedded within the game, as would be discussed further by Activision's Sam Nouriani in an interview (full interview is available via the read link) with Cesar A. Berardini of Team XBox.

You have revealed that Call of Duty 3 will revolve around the Normandy Breakout. We would like to know if you plan to take games throughout the entire “Operation Overlord”, from Operation Detroit, Chicago and Tonga, passing through Operation Neptune (D-Day), to the 30 June 1944 and into Operation Cobra and beyond.

Sam Nouriani: The Allied Invasion of France offers so many amazing stories and battles, that it would be impossible to fit them all into one title. For Call of Duty 3, we focused on what happened after the beach landings, from the beginnings of Operation Cobra, to the closing of the Falaise Gap and the eventual Liberation of Paris. One of the compelling reasons for us to focus on the Normandy Breakout campaign was to show how different countries came together to fight as one against a common foe. It was truly a multinational effort and in Call of Duty 3 the player assumes the role of ordinary soldiers from each of the four countries that fought in the actual campaign: American infantry, British SAS, Canadian mechanized infantry and Polish armor. The game starts in the weeks following D-Day commencing with the taking of St. Lo. This was a key area that was supposed to be taken on D-Day June 6, 1944, but it took 44 days of constant bombing and artillery attacks to finally gain a foothold and take the city. Call of Duty 3 culminates with the closure of the Falaise Gap, trapping over 100,000 of Germany’s elite forces. It was important for us to tell the story of the campaign in a way that allows the player to understand how the events unfolded and how each nation contributed towards the Allies’ victory. We tie every battle together with in-game sequences that replace loading screens and provide a seamless cinematic experience that keeps you immersed in the action.

We are sure the introduction of Canadian and Polish forces will be for more than aesthetical purposes. What would gameplay be like now that there are four forces in the game?

Sam Nouriani: Having four forces allows us to have quite a variety of gameplay. The Polish army is represented by their armored division so you’re commanding a tank and taking on the might of Germany’s Panzer Divisions in some heated combat. For the British you’re playing as the SAS, so you’ll be carrying out sabotage and diversionary missions within your squads behind enemy lines. The Americans drive forward with heavy infantry, while the Canadians press on with their mechanized infantry using unique vehicles such as the kangaroo, which is new to the franchise. In addition, each nation has its own distinct weaponry. And many of the missions’ objectives are expansive, so you’ll row across rivers in boats under fire, storm ancient castles that were vital to success, fight through fuel depots and battle through rubble-strewn streets in pretty heavy combat as some examples.

Can you give us an example of the new branching mission path, and how this new system will reward gamers’ creativity?

Sam Nouriani: With player-choice routes, gamers have the freedom to take on challenges however they want. For example, if your objectives are to take out a mortar crew at the end of the road, you can choose whether you want to drop into the trenches in the west and battle through close-quarter combat flanking the mortar crew, or perhaps take the route in a building to the east and provide tactical cover fire using a sniper rifle, or you can take your chances and go straight up the middle using brut force with heavy firepower. The choice is all yours and each route has its own challenges. This allows for more varied gameplay and additional replayability.

So if you're allowed only one saying slash cliche per year, take Call of Duty 3's lead and say the no fail "History repeats itself" because it's the most amount of truth you can put in a sentence.

Fall Of Liberty

Codemasters has just announced the development of a new FPS for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Called Fall Of Liberty, the game is being made by Call Of Duty: Finest Hour creators Spark Unlimited and presents an alternate history, where the Nazis win World War II.

According to the developer, this all happens because one little historical fact was changed: The car accident Winston Churchill experienced in 1931 was luckily not lethal to him in the real world, but it killed him in Fall Of Liberty, leaving the country without a voice to lead them to war. History begins to develop a little differently. The Nazis win the struggle for power, and gain control over Europe and the UK as the Normandy Invasion never happens.

Confident after their victory in Europe, the Nazis proceed to develop superior weapons and technology, and eventually launch a mass invasion of New York on December 7, 1951. The whole city, including The White House, gets occupied, and for players, it’s time to join the resistance and fight a guerrilla war in the newly occupied territories.

Codemasters promises to deliver an "explosive action experience" that lets you visit famous real-world locations under Nazi Occupation. The aim of the game is to "immerse players in an incredible and intensely realistic vision of an alternative world history". With Fall Of Liberty, the company tries to deliver a fresh take on the WWII genre as the player is no longer a liberator of Europe, but a "defender of freedom" in America.

Fall Of Liberty is set for release in Q4 2007 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. More details will be revealed later on.

Call of Duty 3, the next in a line of great WWII FPS games, is currently scheduled for a Fall 2006 release, but some people (like myself) just can't wait for its release. So, for people like us, here are a few screens of some night combat.

 CoD3 - Image 2CoD3 - Image 3

Being developed by Treyarch for release by Activision, Call of Duty 3 puts you in the role of a soldier from one of five countries. You'll be fighting a lot of other soldiers during your 14-mission campaign which starts June 6 at Normandy and will last 88 days until the liberation of Paris on August 25th.

If the single player isn't your cup of tea, then you'll love the expansive multilayer game with new character classes, new modes, and new vehicles with 24 players.
