More supply and demand blues have been plaguing video game retailer GameStop, but at least there appear to be some good things coming. On one hand, Wii shortages will still persist in the coming month. On the other, next-gen consoles are actually expected to get a price drop some time this year. More details about this in our full article. |

The Xbox 360 price drop in Europe may be taking the console wars for another spin. Analysts surmise that Microsoft will also introduce the price drop in the U.S., so that the console will get the drop on both the PS3 and the Wii. Follow the "read more" link below for the details. |

It looks like analyst Michael Pachter was right on the mark when he predicted a possible price cut for Sony's 80 GB PlayStation 3.The company has just announced that they will be marking down the 80 GB unit's sell price down to US$ 499, effective immediately. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) CEO Jack Tretton had this to say regarding the price drop: We're pleased to offer the consumer a lower price point without sacrificing the core technology components that make PS3 the most advanced high-definition entertainment system available. Every PS3 comes with a Blu-ray drive, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, Cell Broadband Engine and a built-in hard-drive. This announcement comes shortly after SCEA officially announced the November 2 launch date for their 40 GB PS3, which won't be backwards compatible with PlayStation 2 games. The 80 GB PS3 retains BC via software software support. |

After rumors about a "Big Bang" announcement from Sony erupted late last month, the Internet has been abuzz with speculation. Will it be about the rumored core 40GB PlayStation 3 SKU? Will it be about a price drop? Something new for the PSP, maybe?Right now, it looks like it will be about nothing. According to video game news site Eurogamer, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has categorically denied that they have a press conference scheduled for next week. Eurogamer reports that according to a SCEE spokesperson, Sony "has not announced anything and has nothing of the sort planned". The "Big Bang" announcement was supposedly going to happen on October 12. There's still plenty of time for late-breaking updates to come about, so keep checking back here for more news. |

Rumor has it that Sony will be making a very big announcement this coming October 12. This came from the French site GamePro which said that there is something brewing in the company's offices. While Sony has yet to comment on this, analysts are predicting that this is all about a US$ 100 price drop for the PlayStation 3. If this rumor is true, it wouldn't be very surprising considering that quite a few big video game companies like Eidos, Square-Enix, and Ubisoft have voiced their stand that regarding the matter. The timing would also be perfect considering that holiday season is approaching. We'll just have to wait until October 12 to see what Sony's big announcement is all about. Hopefully it'll be as big as their announcement of the Dual Shock 3 controller. |

A Wal-Mart anniversary flyer for Canada was recently spotted by RedFlagDeals forum goer jEevion and it caught our eye because of one particular item sporting a hefty price drop. It's none other than the 80GB Sony PlayStation 3 which sheds CAD$ 110 from its tag!The high-end game console comes bundled with Sony PS3 hit game MotorStorm and has a Blu-ray remote control included for added convenience. The selling price on the advertisement now shows CAD$ 549.83 from CAD$ 659.83 This is significantly lower than its original price of CAD$ , the deal at Wal-Mart really shines. If you're looking to upgrade from the 60GB model or if you're in the market for your first Sony PlayStation 3, you'll want click on the Read link to see how you can avail of the deal. |
