In this day and age, both people and gadgets need to constantly upgrade themselves in order to remain effective. In the case of the PS3, Sony has announced that the BD-LIVE system software update (in the form of PS3 FW v2.20) will include many new options. Among these are certain interactive Blu-ray movie features that users can play around with. If this sounds exciting to you, all you have to do is to turn to the full article after the jump. It's interesting to note that even though this particular PS3 accessory was supposed to have already launched since December 7, there really hasn't been much word about it since it was last spotted at CEATEC... until about now. In any case, here it is, and according to the folks of Kotaku, the PS3's Blu-ray Disc (BD) Remote Control is already being spotted in some stores such as GameStop and the like. Selling for US$ 24.99 a pop, at least you can now ask the not-so-technologically-inclined members of your household to play your movies and  music while you grab a snack from the kitchen.

One common thing which most people have been noticing about the BD remote, though, is that... well... it's not particularly pretty as compared to its Xbox 360 and Wii counterparts.

Okay, enough with the conflicting reports in Engrish, enough of Casino Royale trailers on Gamers' Day, enough of the wild speculation and rampant imaginations. If you haven't been toying with your PSP and your PS3 at the same time - because you don't have one of each, or you currently are or will be too busy playing games, and you don't know how Remote Play really looks like...

Thank salimdao who sent us these YouTube embeds of his PS3 (FW1.10) throwing itself to the PSP (FW3.0) through Remote Play. That's the PS3, a music CD, a BD of "Talladega Nights", and a Memory Stick full of media files, all on the small widescreen of the PSP. You see everything from PS3 setup, to PSP setup, to the handshake between the two, and then Remote Play getting down, four on the floor. No, really. The PSP was on the floor the whole time.

That's four YouTube videos to look at. The Blu-Ray one, however, is either incomplete, or salimdao wasn't able to make it work, because it ends before the guy could make the movie play on his PSP. Hey salimdao, if you're reading this, can you tell us if the movie did play?

PS3/PSP Remote Play Network setup

At Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) Japan 2006, the largest international exhibition in Asia, Sony showed off the PlayStation 3 remote control. It's not something that would generate oohs and aahs upon first look, after all, it's just what it is, a remote control. It does look similar to the PS2 remote and it has pretty much the same features. But of course, this one is used to operate the Blu-ray.

We wonder if Sony has improved and made new additions on this PlayStation 3 remote. It kinda looks the same but we are holding our judgment until official details are released.
