FEAR - Image 1A recently released press kit reveals that there should be some extra content for the Sony PlayStation 3 version of Sierra Entertainment's FEAR.

Rob Loftus, Senior Producer for FEAR, reveals that they added a new game mode called Instant Action, which is reminiscent of an arcade style shoot out. He adds that they've also revamped and improved on the AI's evasion routines,as well as a new weapon and a bonus mission. The latter should allow players to play as a Special Force Operation Detachment soldier that investigated the original insicent which triggered FEAR.

Despite these new changes, Loftus notes that they won't be changing the plotline. He adds that this is more of an addition to the plot, and he notes the mentioned SFOD Bonus mission.

As for online, he clarifies that like the Xbox 360 version you will be able to play deathmatch at launch.

Loftus is still a bit mum about the prospect of additional downloadable content for FEAR on the PS3. He does say, however, that they will look at ways to make that possible.

Sadly, they won't support the SIXAXIS in the current iteration of FEAR, and there won't be any interaction between FEAR PS3 and the PSP. Oh, and they also add that they didn't mess with the AI of the Armacham operatives because they didn't "want to mess with a good thing." Whatever that means.

After giving you bits and pieces about F.E.A.R.'s sequel, let's go back on-topic and talk about F.E.A.R. for the PS3. After dishing out gameplay vids and letting you view some of its screens, we have here for you a trailer of the game - complete with some comments from the people behind the game, senior producer Rob Loftus and global brand manager for Sierra, Ed Lin.

The trailer started with some eerie footprints and of course the always scary and enigmatic little girl waiting for you. As Ed Lin mentioned, the whole cinematic experience of the game is unbelievable. And although the trailer is short (roughly over a minute), it still gives justice to that statement. Anyhow, the PS3 game would be out on March 13 for the U.S. and March 23 for Europe. It will also be available for the Xbox 360 and the PC. So without further ado, here's the vid.

FEAR gets a blog, yes it does!

Bad pun, great game. Lucky for us, Sierra Entertainment and Monolith have set up a blog for eager gamers to get the latest news and information about the game's development.

Currently, there's only an introductory post by Rob Loftus, Senior Producer for F.E.A.R, but it gives us an idea of what to expect from the F.E.A.R. developer's blog as well as a quick recap of what's happened so far. Due to the great demand for the game, they've already launched additional content, such as maps and a developer tool for mapmakers. They've also come up with F.E.A.R. Combat, which is getting a lot of playtime from gamers. Lastly, their current success with the PC version has given them the opportunity to talk to TimeGate Studios to make an expansion pack, known as Extraction Point.

On the other side, Loftus has also mentioned that they've been working hard on the ports for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The good news for Xbox 360 fans is the game nearing completion, meaning that, once Microsoft checks their work, the game will be on for single-player and multi-player very soon. As for the PS3 version, Day 1 Studios is hard at work with the final versions of the console to work out the kinks for making the game work smoothly with the PS3.

Keep checking QJ for any important updates to F.E.A.R. development, and don't hesitate to show your support for Sierra as they work to bring F.E.A.R. into everyone's hearts.
