The buyout of Warner Bros. of publisher Midway has been OK'd by a bankruptcy judge, making the US$ 33 million acquisition a sure go. The deal is expected to finally close within 10 days, this according to the reports by the Chicago Tribune.

Development on Namco Bandai's remake of Splatterhouse has been, to put it mildly, a bit bumpy. The original developer was pulled, but then we heard that they had to be asked for help in order to finish the game up. Development is reportedly continuing, but that doesn't mean we'll be seeing the game this year.

Media Molecule is getting closer and closer to releasing its very promising creation LittleBigPlanet exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 3 this October.  The devs believe their title has the potential to be a big console seller, but they say the challenge is in making people aware of the product. We all know that Ubisoft and Jordan Mechner have been working on a new Prince of Persia video game for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Well, apparently that's not the only thing Mechner's been busy with. At this year's San Diego Comic-con he revealed that he is currently working on a follow-up to Karateka. Midway has announced that it will be merging its San Diego and Los Angeles Studios by this September. Among other things, this merger may have a direct effect on the work of the development team behind TNA iMPACT! (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii). Time for some international pwnage. In a press release, Konami's announced that they'll be holding a Metal Gear Online World Championship 2008 event for this summer. Nice. It's open for pretty much everybody, and if you make it far enough in the tournament, not only do you get a free trip to Japan, you might find yourself smack in the middle of one of the video game industry's hottest annual events, the Tokyo Game Show! If you feel that you aren't getting enough bang out of your buck due to the rather problematic issues noted in Major League Baseball 2K8 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable,  Wii, and DS), then we've got some good news for you. 2K Sports has announced that it will be rolling out an update for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game which will take care of these problems.
