Spec ops enthusiasts and fans of Sony Computer Entertainment America's (SCEA) SOCOM series will be delighted to know that many of their favorite organizations made it to SOCOM: Confrontation by developer Slant Six Games for the Sony PlayStation 3. When you're waiting patiently for any bit of news on the next installment of your favorite series, even some new screenshots can certainly inspire you to continue waiting.

It's likely that David Seymour of Slant Six Games understands this, as he has revealed a couple of new screenshots of SOCOM: Confrontation. Check them out in the full article, right after the jump.

Quite honestly, Sony can't have an E3 Press Conference without including video game SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation. The video clip below was taken during the said conference and has Slant Six Games Design Director David Seymour talking about the title and its various next-gen features.

Aside from that, Seymour mentioned that there's going to be a downloadable version of SOCOM: Confrontation aside from the already mentioned full retail copy that should be available around Fall. This, he suggested, will have certain advantages since the game is running directly off the the PS3's hard drive.

Fans of the franchise since the last cycle might also want to watch the video until the latter parts as the design director compared Confrontation with the other SOCOM iteration on the PlayStation 2 (PS2).

 

There are six new screenshots for SOCOM: Confrontation up on PlayStation.com. The images provide a decent preview of the Middle East-styled urban environments in this "high density" 32-player multiplayer only game for the Sony PlayStation 3.

Unfortunately, the screenshots don't reveal more on how the clan uniform customization works. They do however, give us a clue on what Slant Six means when they said "high density". For one thing, several screens feature tight urban alleyways, and a few examples of how "littered" the environments are.

The screens are below, skim through them at your leisure. SOCOM: Confrontation is expected to hit shelves come November this year, with additional content to be made available via download on the PlayStation Network.
