To a degree, games like Monster Hunter Portable and Valhalla Knights already somewhat overlap into the circle of MMO games. What with Wi-Fi, Remote Play, and other functions for interconnectivity, seeing the PSP (whether via the PS3 or not) as a tool for grinding your characters on-the-go isn't all that hard to imagine. John Smedley of SOE thinks that it is quite possible to move into that direction. He already mentioned Free Realms, SOE's upcoming MMO for the PS3 and PC - could that be the start?

We've heard a lot about the possibility of cross-platform play in Sony Online Entertainment's The Agency (PlayStation 3, PC). This time, it's senior game designer Kevin O'Hara's turn to sound off on the matter. Long story short, he thinks that contrary to what they say on Internet forums, gamers don't really like cross-platform play.

It only makes sense that an online game based on some of the world's most famous comic book characters ought to have a story written by a famous comic book writer as well. Geoff Johns, the man whose contributions include DC Comics titles such as Green Lantern, Action Comics, and Justice Society of America, will be writing the story behind SOE's upcoming MMO title, DC Universe Online. Cross-platform play may yet be added as one of the features in Sony Online Entertainment's The Agency (PlayStation 3, PC) after all. This was revealed in a recent interview by executive producer Matt Wilson. According to Wilson, it's one of the features that SOE is considering. "We're actually doing that at the office," said Wilson. "Technology-wise, it's really not that complicated."
