Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Image 1Avid Metal Gear Solid fans who want to get more info on Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots should check out and watch this video clip taken from Spike TV's Game Head segment. In this clip, Geoff Keighley interviews Ryan Payton of Kojima Productions, and gamers are treated with tantalizing hints about the game's settings.

According to Payton, MGS4 will be set on four or five different locations, three of which are the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South America. He said that the game will kick off in the Middle East with an encounter with Liquid Ocelot, then will continue in Eastern Europe. He's not willing to give out all the other details, so we'll have to make do with those hints for the meantime, until the game's release (which sadly is delayed).

Spike TV invaded San Diego for the Comic-Con recently, and their footage is finally up. Regular host Geoff Keighley was able to grab a hold of a couple of videogame icons and celebrities, and interview them in this edition of GameHead. Today's video has a quick sit down - actually, they were standing up, rather - with none other than David Jaffe, who was talking about his Eat Sleep Play project (details of which can be found here).

Past the 3:02 mark of the episode though, we have Jaffe pitted against videogame movie director Uwe Boll. We never thought that both names could ever be uttered in the same sentence, much less be inside the same camera frame, but here they are. And if you've got both Jaffe and Boll in the same equation, you can't not ask the question: "Will there be a God of War movie directed by Uwe Boll?"

Jaffe answered this honestly with a resounding "No." Boll, though, had a different response. "Wait until you see Postal, and then you judge." In fact, Boll already even has a rather... fitting actor to play Kratos. Viggo Mortensen. AKA Aragorn. Uhm, right. Watch:

Ea Chicago developing a new Marvel fighting game - Image 1Electronic Arts Chicago has announced in the Comic-con Chicago that it is developing a brand new Super Hero fighting game franchise using the Marvel license. The game is slated for launch this 2008 for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

The development team handling this endeavor is known for their work on top fighting franchises such as the EA Sports' Fight Night series and DefJam: Icon. The General Manager and Vice President of EA Chicago Kudo Tsunoda shared his thoughts on this and what they plan on delivering to gamers:

We looked at past comic-based games to find out what was missing and what was needed to successfully translate the intensity, excitement and fiction from comics into fighting games. We’re challenging ourselves to make a game that delivers on the Super Hero promises of past top-tier fighting games.

Featuring a great all-star line-up of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains with incredible powers that are authentic to the fiction, huge environments and a living world that keeps the gameplay fresh, every battle will be unique; every battle will be like a first edition.

Of course this enthusiasm was shared by the people on Marvel as well, with the Vice President of Interactive from Marvel Entertainment Justin Lambros sharing his sentiments on the partnership with the company:

Marvel Super Heroes are a natural fit in the fighting game genre, so we’re excited to have Kudo and his team of fighting game experts put these characters toe-to-toe against each other on next generation consoles. This is a game that will deliver to both comic book fans and to fighting game diehards.

Fighting game and comic book fans rejoice, because it looks like we're going to be getting quite a treat this 2008. If you want to know more on this, the worldwide unveiling of the EA Chicago/Marvel game and a behind-the-scenes look into its development will be shown on Spike TV GAME HEAD on August 31 at 1:00 a.m. ET/PT.

David Jaffe on Calling All Cars - Image 1

From God of War to Calling All Cars, haven't you wondered how David Jaffe jumped ship from something so epically mature to another game considered by some to be "a great party game"? Well, it's not about the graphics or the overall gameplay, really. But for Jaffe, he wanted to focus more on possible new feelings - emotions, in other words - one would get while they're playing something that's "different." This is what Jaffe replied in an interview with Spike TV's Geoff Keighley for Episode 4 (Part 2 of 5) of the Bonus Round.

The interview centers on the risks Jaffe took in developing this sort of game and following this kind of track, instead of trying to create a "tried-and-tested" Twisted Metal-ish game for the PlayStation Network. Tongue-in-cheek, Jaffe also discusses what working on God of War was like, and how it compared to his overall insight of game development in general.

Wii bashes PS3? - Image 1Them's some fighting words over at Nintendo's camp. According to the video interview, the folks who shot Spike TV's Game Head segments managed to catch Reggie Fils-Aime making a rather pointed attack on the PS3.

In relation to the PS3's current spate of negative media attention and the long lines for PS3's opening days, Reggie made a pass towards the spate of PlayStation 3-related shootings and violence. As caught on camera, Fils-Aime said, "Were those the people ducking to not get shot or...? I'm just not sure."

In contrast to those statements, Phil Harrison focused more on how many people were satisfied with their purchase because they bought a PS3 and were entertained by it. Said Harrison,

We are creating technology that empowers entertainment for people. And ultimately, it's the people who spend their money, who buy the machine, who love the machine, who have a tremendous relationship with that machine...

In any event, here's the fourth segment of Game Head's DICE episode, where the offending bits are clearly heard.
