In the same vein where you heard unconfirmed details of Call of Duty 5, Guitar Hero 4, the next Tony Hawk title, and Forza 3, we've learned that the Wii might be getting the ultimate party game for pop culture and trivia fans, while a new superhero game is to be announced for the high-powered gaming platforms at present. But what's also interesting is that Microsoft has prepared their own game to rival that of SingStar, the so-claimed pet project of former Sony exec Phil Harrison, who's now pursuing broader market dreams at Infogrames. Activision's fiscal 2008 Q2 report is in, and the results are very encouraging. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC) is bringing the house down as it earns over US$ 100 million in its first week to seal its reputation as one of gaming's most successful launches ever. Activision is definitely on a roll and has openly predicted that Q3 2007 just might yield income of about US$ 1 billion. Want to know the full financial details? After acquiring the rights from Activision, Sega sets the stage for their latest superhero video game, Iron Man. The business man turned superhero finally gets his chance to step onto the next generation console platform with his very own video game, following his last appearance in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Taking a look at the concept art Sega has released for the upcoming game, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that the armor-clad superhero will definitely make an impression when he hits the shelves. From the looks of it, Iron Man will using armor based closely on the film coming out next year. The game itself will be released sometime in spring next year. Iron Man will be released on multiple platforms, namely the PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo Wii and DS. Until then, let's keep our eyes on the sky for more updates on the game. |

More info about the latest superhero to make the jump from comic book frames and into the big screen with this developer interview of Sega's Iron Man, the man in the suit that never needs ironing (okay, bad joke, but I had to do it). In this video, Beejey Inriquez, assistant producer of the Iron Man game, reassures both comic fans and video game fans that the game will not disappoint, seeing as he's a comic book fan himself and is quite familiar about the discerning taste of those enamored with superheroes fighting the good fight in frames. That in itself is very good news, as staying true to comic book canon (or at the very least, being faithful to it) is a good way to make a great game. [Well, some of us aren't canon purists, but yeah, even if an adaptation veers from canon, it should still remain true to the spirit of the comic book original we have all grown to love, right? - Ed.] Beejey was tightlipped about the game's juicier bits, but he did reveal that the armor itself will be very customizable to fit anyone's playing style. He also said that the title is coming out for every next-gen console (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii), both handhelds (DS, PSP), and the unforgettable PS2 and PC. Very good news indeed coming from Sega. Updates as we get them, so enjoy the video! We've hidden the video at the Full Article version of this article - click on the Full Article link below to see it. Note: The video autoplays - so if you're at work or at school, you may want to just bookmark this for later. |

If you thought the Marvel movie and game craze is over after Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four did their numbers, you ain't seen nothing yet. 2008 will mark the big screen debut of Marvel mainstay Iron Man and like the other Marvel movies, he'll have a video game tied in with the flick. What you'll see below is an early gameplay demo with a walkthrough from the developers. Take a look:
The video features a lot of flying and busting done by industrialist-turned-armored-hero Tony Stark. Using Uni Beams and other weapons, he takes out power generators supplying electricity to a big laser cannon. It looks pretty fun beating on hapless humans in your cybernetic glory and it's building up some anticipation for more on this title. Activision used to do most of the development work for Marvel franchises but this time, it's Sega's turn to try its hand with Iron Man. The Japanese firm has purchased the rights to create the official game tie-in and this should give us some fresh nuances to the superhero line of gaming. Iron Man ships in 2008 for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 game consoles. |
