PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Some so-called "video evidence" of the long-rumored and much-denied PS3 Slim surfaced this week. The video was grainy, shaky, and you couldn't really see the thing in question that clearly. Kinda like footage of Bigfoot. Hit the jump for the rest of the big PS3 news in this week's edition of the PS3 Weekend Warrior.

thatgamecompany - Image 1Jenova Chen of thatgamecompany, the dev studio that brought us flOw and Flower, has announced that work has started on a third game for Sony. Chen didn't reveal which particular Sony console the game is for, however. More from Chen after the jump.

Aquatica - Image 1When flOw burst onto the scene, a lot of people appreciated its minimalist and serene design. Creator Jenova Chen eventually released the game's source code for people to learn from, but now it seems as though someone didn't just learn from it but actually just copied it instead.

Below is the concluding part of episode 4 (the same one where Jaffe comments on Blu-ray) of GameTrailer's Crossfire-esque videogames talk show, "The Bonus Round". In it is Sony's David Jaffe, thatgamecompany's Kellee Santiago, and Naked Sky's Josh Glazer.

In this video, they talk about the appeal of small downloadable video games. The talk about how small games give gamers who don't have time for 30-hour epics the gaming fix that they need.

What's noteworthy here is Josh Glazer saying that even if RoboBlitz dished out its gameplay in hour-sized chunks, feedback from players indicated that they wanted it shorter. Apparently, their market was a bit annoyed with the learning curve, and wanted the bite-sized game snappier. Like a music video. Enough explaining, watch it yourself:

We particularly like that bit in the discussion about innovation in big games versus innovation in small downloadable games. What's nice about that one is that they noted that a game, large or small, always tries to have something new in it, because that's what sells.

Well, folks? What's your take on this? Do you want Sony to give Josh Glazer some dev kits? Let us know through the comments.

flOw screens - Image 1 flOw screens - Image 2

To celebrate the grrreat news we brought you just a while ago about the game's release tomorrow, we're gonna share with you this mesmerizing new batch of screens we were able to score just recently.

We know you've seen quite a lot of flOw goodies from us, you have the videos and the trailers, as well as interviews from the folks at TGC (thatgamecompany) and Sony talking about dev processes and whatnot. But perhaps the most striking thing that flOw features (for this writer at least) is the visuals/graphics. I mean, look how tantalizing they are! It's almost like floating amongst electric jellyfish and you're seeing colors for the first time.

Add to that the fact that the game will run on 1080p, man, it doesn't get any psychedelic than this. So as you countdown the hours until the game's release tomorrow, have a fill of these jellytrippy screens why don'cha? *ogles at screens and spaces out*

flOw Banner - Image 1

flOw, a game developed by thatgamecompany, is unorthodox. It twists, it wiggles, and it squirms. What more could you ask for in a video game? After checking out the new flOw videos, we continue to be mesmerized by the different light, colors, and movement that we saw on the screen - the game has gone a long way from when it used to be a "simple" web-based Flash game (see the ooooold image above).

Check out the videos, and lose yourself. *drool*

We're going to all have to agree on how to write the name of this game. Flow flOw flow FLOW. Anyway, flOw, which y'all should have downloaded and tried by now, is a beautiful, simple, engaging, and very fun game for the PS3 (we've been impressed with it since it came out at TGS). It's rare to have most of the QJ bloggers agreeing on one title, but this one goes on almost everybody's wish list.

One thing we liked about the game was the fact that learning how to play it is very intuitive. You only need to know the basics: holding down the button accelerates, eating the red microorganisms (the ones that make red echo pings) will take you deeper into the sea, eating the blue ones will take you up. If you see a big creature, it might try to eat your glowing cells, and you have to it the creatures glowing cells to defeat it. (Watch the video if you don't understand.)

The PS3 version is developed by thatgamecompany based on Jenova Chen's Flash game.

What's the game about? ***SPOILER ALERT*** You play a worm-like organism. You eat. You avoid being eaten. You grow. And when you get to the deepest part of the ocean and eat the "boss," a cool thing happens: you become a jellyfish-like organism. Then you float back to the surface and start all over. ***END SPOILERS***
