Dreamcast - Image 1 Yes, yes, I know. We don't have a Dreamcast blog. Nonetheless, this bit of news is too exciting to pass up. Apparently, not all publishers have let go of the Dreamcast dream, choosing to still make games for it despite the console having been declared clinically dead years ago. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Redspotgames' 10th year Dreamcast anniversary offering: Rush Rush Rally Racing. And no, this is not a hoax.

Mafia 2 - Image 1Just because The Godfather II (PS3, Xbox 360) is out doesn't mean that it's gonna be the only gang war game this year, no way. While this one isn't near its expected October release, Mafia 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) is handing out new screens for the upcoming title, thanks to 2K Czech. Check 'em out.

Kojima Plans to be Very Involved with Metal Gear Solid Movie - Image 1We don't hear a lot of updates regarding the Metal Gear Solid movie (there's a movie?), so I figured fans would appreciate hearing this bit of news. Creator Hideo Kojima not only intends to be "very involved" with the movie, he is also considering the possibility of a video game tie-in.

God of War 3 - Image 1When it comes to God of War III, I'll take any piece of news I can get, even rumors. This one comes from games "insider," Gamesblow, who says that the trailer that will be shown during VGA will only be 10, maybe 20 seconds max. He also reveals other info like another playable character besides Kratos. Hmmm.

Now keep in mind, these are rumors. But still drool worthy. Details in the full article.

God of War - Image 1Here's some great news! I'm sure a lot of you are excited to see the God of War III footage that was promised to be revealed during Spike TV's VGA event (December 14, woohoo!). And if you remember from a few weeks back, some people - eg. Jaffe and the Sony staff in London - were shown GoW3, and they were pretty impressed. Now, Geoff Keighley of Spike TV has confirmed that the God of War III footage to hit VGA will most definitely real-time graphics!

Bizarre Creations, developer of The Club and Boom Boom Rocket - Image 1For those of you wondering what ever happened to The Club and Boom Boom Rocket, two games from Bizarre Creations, then you'll be glad to know that the developers have some good news. In a recent update from the developer's website, both games are looking to pass their respective certification tests and will be soon be released with solid features when they finally come out.

In the case of The Club, the two console builds (Xbox 360 and PS3) for the game will prove whether or not the game will push through with its "early 2008" release date as was previously announced by the developers. The PC version of the game, however, won't have to go through such formalities and is expected to follow the console version after hopefully passing the certification.

In a recent demonstration for The Club during the Game City event in Nottingham, the game showed off some of the game modes that were going to be featured in this third person shooter. Both the Sprint and Time Attack modes still rely on the player being able to rack up as many points to add to your timer across a certain stage or during an allotted time span.

As for Boom Boom Rocket, the new update for the game has recently passed its certification. While it wasn't announced when the new build will go live, Bizarre Creations has announced the list of new features this highly addictive XBLA game will be sporting:
  • Guitar and dance mat peripheral support
  • Japanese and Korean language support
  • Tweaked scoring system to make grade awarded more fair (now purely based on accuracy)
  • The huge loud "noise" which popped up occasionally on endurance mode is now gone
  • Occurrences of scores getting overwritten with a lower score when playing with 2 profiles signed in is now fixed.
  • Display updates when viewing the game through a VGA cable.
  • Friends leaderboard now shows extra information such as grade, accuracy, etc.
  • Multiplayer endurance mode fix for player colours swapping sporadically.
  • Slightly bigger and better explosions (updates to firework rendering)

The XCM Multi-cable... uh, too long. The thingy that connects your console to a PC monitor. There. Simple. After mating mice to 360s and making plates for the PS3, Team Xtender brings out yet another product out of their bag: the XCM Multi-cable V2 PC Monitor Adapter, a.k.a. the FARMER-VGA BOX, but the first name makes more sense.

In case the product's name didn't clue you in: the XCM Multi-cable V2 PC Monitor Adapter will hook your PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii up to a PC monitor (or via the VGA card) "for the Maximum resolution," says the Team. Not only them, but if you want to hook up the last-gen consoles, then this Adapter's good for them, too.

The Adapter works for both PAL and NTSC systems, and besides having the necessary plugs to plug into the consoles, the Adapter will also take YPbPr input (it also comes with a set of YPbPr cables for that purpose, too).

The Adapter is plug-and-play, requires an external power source (don't worry, it'll take 110V to 220-240V), and it will automatically memorize your settings (they say adjustment, but we think they mean settings). Only one question is left when dealing with this device: at what price, Team Xtender?

Do be careful when you wave your Wiimote at an LCD monitor, though.

sixaxisOnline blog Three Speech was recently on our main page because some industry analysts are questioning their legitimacy. On the other hand, the guys over at Three Speech are saying they are not part of Sony but they are definitely semi-legit. Hmm.. At any rate, believe us today when we say that we're hoping that they really are legit.

Why? Because a couple of hours ago, certain information have "leaked" from Three Speech involving Phil Harrison and a bunch of details about the PlayStation 3. Accordingly, the PS3 will be launched in Europe on the third day of the third month, that's March 3. This is highly feasible as Sony has been big on context clues in the past. It was also mentioned that a March 2 or 9 launch date is still possible.

We also learned that the launch will be accompanied by the HDip Camera, PS3's answer to Xbox 360's Live Vision. Currently, no other information or specs are known regarding this accessory. Aside from the camera, it looks like Sony is not so keen on manufacturing PlayStation branded headsets, keyboards or mice. "Third party companies can offer these accessories to the consumer at a price which SCE could not compete," as one of the guys from the blog had put it.

Also, as far as we understood it, Sing Store, an extension of the online store, will go live.. People will soon be able to purchase songs for their 'Sing Star' karaoke program from here. There are many more things discussed. Sometimes, you want to argue the why and the how of them but then again, we'll just have to trust that Sony knows what its doing.

But for you guys, here's a summary of what transpired last night. By the way, the first six are those that will be included in the next firmware update, which will reportedly come out on March.
  • Multi-tasking (included will be audio/video conferencing while browsing the xmb and its features/ gameplay).
  • New xmb display options
  • New animations for audio playback.
  • New photo album options.
  • Playstation store auto resume
  • Psp remote play advanced access option (so that you can have access to your ps3's content anywhere that has a internet connection)
  • PS3 will be sold at £425 or lower, meaning we could have it cheaper then the previously stated price.
  • Dont expect to see 20GB models available in Europe.
  • No VGA cables to be released.
  • No plans to make RSX available to Linux OS, due to security issues.
  • A service to reserve your playstation online id will be up and running this weekend or next.
