When license agreements turn sour, you know what's coming next. For World Wrestling Entertainment, THQ, and Jakks Pacific, the result is a Triple Threat matchup between the three companies, jockeying for position over the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw franchise.

Coming soon to the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, and DS is WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 with the announcement made by THQ at E3 earlier. THQ's widely popular WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise lives on in another title so WWE fans can continue bringing some real pain to the fictional superstars of the game.

Europe's PSN update for this week has gone llive. The usual suspects are there (DLC packs for LBP, GH, and RB), but if you guys want something bigger, there are three new PSN titles (and two new PS3 game demos!), as well as more downloadable games for the PSP.

Lots of DLC on this week's update for the PlayStation Store, including the Encore to PixelJunk Eden and additional content for Valkyria Chronicles. Hit the link for the complete list.

Getting to play a clown in a wrestling match? Definitely a novelty. THQ is priming five new wrestlers to bring to the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 arena this week, and one of them is a clown. A rumor spread a few days ago that THQ finally folded after months of struggling to keep above water. The rumor was wrong, but from the looks of it, it probably won't be long before it becomes true. Their latest financial numbers show a US$ 192 million loss, and the Saints Row publisher is now planning to reduce their headcount by 600.

Earlier today, a source close to THQ confirmed to N-Europe that the game studio is actually shutting down. Apparently, the staff has already been informed just today of THQ's "imminent closure."

*Update* THQ says the cake is a lie and they're still alive.

RAWR. The analysts in Cowen and Company are projecting that THQ may have a hard time breaking even this year. And why is that? It looks like some of THQ's franchises, namely WWE, Saints Row, and even Spongebob are heading down for Bikini Bottom. That's quite a blow, considering that their franchises have been released across the current gen platforms and handhelds!

The PlayStation Network update for Europe this week has gone live. The new PSN title, Magic Ball, goes live, as do free demos for Skate 2 and Dead Space. The PSP Store is a bit skimpy though, with just one solitary theme being made available.

Big WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS) news.
