SCEA and Zipper Interactive have finally revealed the release date of MAG, the highly anticipated massive online action game that can support up to 256 players. The game will be released in North America on January 26, 2010.

Do you consider yourself lucky? If so, you may want to go check your inbox right about now. For all you know, there might be a MAG beta invite waiting there for you as it seems the game has had enough internal testing and is prepped enough to face the public's criticisms.

The good news is that there's actually a MAG beta going on.The bad news is neither you nor I can join in. Unless you're working for Sony, that is.

Although there has been no launch date specified for MAG yet, retailers have been working under the assumption that the game would be released this year. It appears that has changed though. Do retailers know something about MAG's release that we don't?

One of the biggest facts about Zipper Interactive's massive shootfest, MAG, is that it supports a whopping 256 players. With that many players going at it, how would you stand out?
